I would love Zombie Eaters and Jizzlobber (latter is unlikely due to title alone). As for Ministry, most of the songs are a bit repetitive to be fun in RB, even though I am a big fan. I’d love to do the vocals for Stigmata or So What? (live versions). I wonder if they could put the cover of Lay Lady Lay. That might work for all instruments actually.

And yeah, Pink Floyd.

I’m calling for more old school stuff: more (real) Creedence and at least BTO’s “Takin’ Care of Business”

I’ve been listening to the Tom Petty Live CDs since Christmas and loving every minute. What I’d really like is more Tom Petty live. Oh, wait!

I’d be happy to see “Jesus Built My Hotrod,” and while we’re at it, let’s get some more Gibby Haynes in with some Butthole Surfers. I want a full band performance of “Who Was In My Room Last Night” so badly.

Does anyone have any theories about why Heart isn’t in either the RB series or GH? Lack of interest on the Wilson sisters’ part? On the game studios’ part? Vocals too difficult? I had some kids here to play RB just before Christmas, and they were wishing we could do Barracuda.

But the Guitar Hero series does have some Heart – Crazy On You and Barracuda – though not in its most recent incarnations.

Barracuda is a boring chart in a boring game (GH3), and only for guitar instruments. Crazy on you is pretty fun in GH2, but again only on guitar instruments. Both are covers but reasonably well done.

Based on the fact that GH3 only selling point is having some great master tracks (totally wasted on the game), I’d guess that there aren’t any decent Heart masters around and not enough of an audience to warrant resurrecting them.

Barracuda is in GH: Smash Hits which is a full band game, FYI.

Good point, I forgot about that. I don’t remember if it was any good there. GHSH is pretty good, as far as the GH series goes, so that probably wouldn’t be the worst investment for a few of the songs. It was basically my No One Knows disc for a while.

Also, I guess that means the masters are doable, since everything on GHSH is a master recording.

I couldn’t remember if it was, or not. Thanks for the reminder.

But is Holy Diver on there?

Thanks, guys - I may pick up GHSH.

When I played in a garage/cover band in college, we played Crazy on You. Such a great song, and a lot of fun on real guitar. I have no idea how well it would be charted, obviously.

I recall cursing up a storm during the acoustic intro.

Yeah no shit. For me that is one of the hardest guitar parts in any rhythm game, and i’m pretty handy with a plastic guitar.

By the way, jerri, with the current Hastings sale (at GoHastings.com, you can pick up a used copy for the 360 for something like $12.87 shipped.

Things might be looking up…

From Bill Harris’ blog:

This last note is very good news. Jimmy Page is suddenly talking sweet about music games. Page was do dismissive of music games in the past that I think this is clearly not an accident. Someone is scratching Led Zeppelin a big fat check, or they’re at least in the negotiation process. Let it be with Rock Band, please.

Like Bill said, please let it be Rock Band. It will be crushingly disappointing if it turns out to be Guitar Hero. The final straw for me was when I rented Guitar Hero: Smash Hits. There’s just something about their presentation or something, it just bores me to tears. I just couldn’t do it, I couldn’t play through Smash hits and I doubt I’ll be going back to any Guitar Hero games anymore. I guess I’m just so tired of this genre when thought of as a game. And that’s what Guitar Hero is for me now. Whereas, I continue to go back to Rock Band 2 and Lego Rock Band, because, it’s more of another way to experience music for me.

All of those except Godzilla (awesome!) were part of the Metal Track Pack, so not technically new to RB, only new to DLC.

That first one makes me want to pick up a bus and throw it back down.
