The Green Day release gets a big yawn from me. Is there bigger demand for them than I’m aware of?

I like them but I wouldn’t put them up on the pedestal with the Beatles or Zepplin. Didn’t American Idiot get a lot of buzz as album of the decade? There is also a musical based on the album opening on Broadway. It looks dreadful.

It wouldn’t make a good standalone game, but I’d kill for some Smiths DLC.

Well, their songs are catchy and fun to sing along to so it makes some sense. Those are typically the best songs for Rock Band.

I don’t think that answers my question. I’m trying to project out to see if RB3 included harmonies could the existing download library also include harmonies or will only the songs on the RB3 disc and future DLC have multiple voice parts.

Ditto, and I bet there’s no way to get the songs I want without getting the other 45. So this basically means I’ll never have Green Day in my library.

I also question whether this will be a commercial success. AC/DC is the prototypical rock band, and their “game” didn’t do so hot. This one is even more expensive, and Green Day is nowhere near as big as AC/DC.

Oh well, too late to worry about it now. They wanted to go this route for whatever reason so I hope it works out. I doubt I’ll buy it though.

I’m not sure that AC/DC is the prototypical rock band among people who play Rock Band the game though.

Green Day?! WTF is my Cheap Trick: Rock Band?!

My main concern about RB:GD is that the guitar parts just won’t be that fun to play. The Beatles and AC/DC were pretty boring on the drums. One of the main reasons I think Led Zeppelin RB would be great is that all of the instrument and vocal charts will be pretty awesome.

If they’re charging money for the export, I doubt it’ll be a one-time code.

That’s how Lego Rock Band works. One time code + $10 export cost. I wasn’t going to export, since I like the presentation in Lego RB better, but then merryprankster was making fun of me for playing a kid’s game instead of Rock Band 2, and I buckled under the peer pressure and paid the $10 export fee.

Nevertheless, the good part is that I LOVE all the songs in Lego RB, and now they’re exported to RB, RB2 and RB3, so they’ll be there for me from the beginning in RB3.

You mean like Lego RB?

edit: blast!

Well, the press release states that the current mono-vocal Green Day DLC will be multi-vocal when played through the new game. However, that is almost certainly due to Harmonix expending effort to make it so.

I think the answer will therefore depend on whether Harmonix decides to expend that effort. Which in turn will be based on how much demand they think there will be, and how much the lack of multi-vocal support may impact future DLC sales.

The fact they say existing Green Day songs will have harmony implies that they may already be sticking it in DLC without saying anything, and then those songs will have harmonies in RB3. They didn’t say anything about re-downloading the songs.

Haha…too funny. To be fair though, I played Lego RB at a friends a week ago, and while I can’t bring myself to endure the shame of owning a Lego game, I have to admit it is amusing. Though I am currently enjoying a JRPG, so perhaps the depths of my depravity knows no limits and I’ll bring LRB home one stormy eve.

Do it.

Dude, you know you’re a grown man playing videogames, right? Nobody is going to give you shit for playing Lego Rock Band who wouldn’t already give you shit for pretending to be a rockstar with your fake plastic guitar and drums.

Wait, what? I’m a grown man…shit!

Sorry dude, I was moslty just having a bit of fun with Rock8, didn’t mean to offend you.

I’ve got Lego models of Slave 1, an X-wing, Vader’s Tie Fighter, and the Batmobile all sitting in my office at work. That’s in public. Playing a Lego game in the privacy of my own home is a step up for me.

No one mentioned more MuteMath coming next week. Can’t wait!
