It was only a week ago that we got an entire album of Jimi Hendrix, and we’re already back to bitching about this stuff? They’re apparently doing a Christian rock thing this week, and if that doesn’t appeal to you, well you can probably wait a week or two and you’ll get a slew of great new stuff to buy. Maybe you can find something else you like in the library of over 1300 songs that have been released to date for Rock Band.

Well, I’m a drum fan so the Hendrix stuff doesn’t really thrill me either. :P

Do we have to do this again?

Was that meant to turn me into a Hendrix drum fan?

Only if you had a soul.

I think you’re trying to project your love of Hendrix onto me and you’re confused about why it isn’t sticking. I don’t care for the music other than a few songs. Let it go.

Are you kidding me? The drums in the Hendrix pack are incredible. It’s easily among the best drum albums that have been released to date.

I think it’s more my general preference for songs that are fast, energetic, and difficult, even if I don’t like them. I found that I could play that godawful Fallout Boy song all the time for that reason. I figure if I can manage that, surely you could manage Hendrix. I may be in the minority in terms of willingness to suffer disfavored music for fun gameplay.

But you’re still a monster.

Maybe I’ll check it out then. I would hate to miss out on fun drum tracks.

If I had to recommend one drum track from the album, it would be Bold as Love. That song is amazing to play. If you like that, the rest of the album is pretty similar in style.

I’m not good enough to play Hendrix, on guitar or drums. Fire made that crystal clear.

It’s gotten to the point that the quality of the chart far outweighs the quality of the song when I make purchasing decisions. I have more than enough well known songs to play at parties. I want interesting charts.

I agree that the Hendrix songs are amazing on drums. Also check out “The Complexity of Light” by Children of Nova on RBN. The drum chart is a blast.

I don’t mind bands I’ve never heard of so much as awful bands I’ve barely heard of. Christian Rock bands tend to fill a special subgenre of suck for me, though I am somewhat resentful because they damn well took over my schools from 95-2001. Oh boy, more Jars of Clay performances. Yeah, let’s play another Good Newsboys album! Pardon me, I’m going to hang myself during this next Switchfoot album, see you in hell.

Shouldn’t that crap be on RBN? I mean, let’s save the official charters for the good stuff!

Christian Rock Bands are too busy rocking back and forth with their eyes closed to chart their own music.

Now, what would be awesome is if they also put Cartman’s record out as alternative programming, but in addition to maybe not having ever been more than a few musical excerpts, I doubt that that would fly with the censors.

I don’t know about you, but…

I wanna get down, down on my knees and start pleasing Jesus!
I want to feel his salvation all over my face!

And who can forget:

The body of Christ, body of Christ,
All muscled up and toned!
The body of Christ, sweet swimmer’s body,
I’d love to call it my own!

Actually I’ve heard Anberlin, Switchfoot and Flyleaf on mainstream non-Christian stations. Checking the “What we’re playing” list, it looks like my local alt-rock station played all three bands within the past 90 minutes. Plus, the Anberlin song listed topped Billboard’s alt-rock chart last year, just ahead of songs by Kings of Leon and Papa Roach, which suggests that it got quite a bit of mainstream airplay.

So, in short, the answer isn’t “Well, I’ll just assume that this is just really obscure and plays to a small niche” and really is “You’re getting old and out of touch.” Nyah.

PRAISE THE LAWD!!

(and, I liked the Flyleaf song that was in RB1 and didn’t think it was particularly or overtly God-y … or if it was, it was in a way my primate brain was not able to pick up on)

Look up the lyrics to “All Around Me”, that excrement actually got heavy radio play.

One man’s excrement is another’s fertilizer. Wait, that didn’t come out right. Gah, again. I’m really straining on this one.
