That Orianthi song is going to kill on guitar. She used to play with Steve Vai.

Next week, a live offering from… Judas Priest!
Judas Priest - “Breaking the Law (Live)” +
Judas Priest - “Rapid Fire (Live)” +
Judas Priest - “Metal Gods (Live)”
Judas Priest - “Grinder (Live)” +
Judas Priest - “United (Live)” +
Judas Priest - “Living After Midnight (Live)”
Judas Priest - “You Don’t Have to Be Old to Be Wise (Live)”
Judas Priest - “The Rage (Live)” +
Judas Priest - “Steeler (Live)” +
It’s a live version of the British Steel album. Tracks with +s are Lego friendly, as usual.
No love for live music? Guess opinions vary. I can’t stand Judas Priest, but when stuff by bands I like comes I’m always hoping for live tracks. All that Dead and no live tracks to be seen was such a bummer.

Only jam band-y granola types such as yourself prefer live recordings, I think. The main problem from a gameplay perspective is that the song that you know really well doesn’t sound the way you’re expecting, so it makes it much harder to play (especially on vocals).
The AC/DC live tracks are amazing. But they’re the only live tracks I’ve tried. They’re so full of energy and enthusiasm and improvisation, they’re a joy to play on guitar.
Several of the Iron Maiden tracks are live, and that whole pack is fantastic. I rarely have a problem with live tracks in Rock Band, since the whole game is about simulating a live performance.
I don’t know if I’ll get every song from next week, but I’ll definitely be picking up a few. “United” in particular strikes me as a JP song that won’t be insanely difficult to play, which will be a welcome relief, as much as I love insane difficulty.
I would rather get live tracks than rerecords, and that’s really what it comes down to with older songs.

It’s funny - I’m not a dyed-in-the-wool AC/DC fan, but I picked up the RB AD/DC pack on a whim, and I’ve enjoyed playing everyone of these songs immensely. I think I would ALWAYS prefer live tracks after this experience.

Thin Lizzy … bleh. My favorite TL songs. Worst live tracks on RB.
I see what your saying. I guess the bands I like are so much better live than in the studio it’s kind of a drag to get the inferior studio cuts. Most of what I listen to is recordings of live music anyway, even for stuff like Pearl Jam and Counting Crows, not just the jam band-y gronola stuff. I suppose I’m just used to it and so I tend to prefer it.

For the record, that was supposed to be funny, not malicious, in case any offense was taken. Seriously, though, you were hoping for some Widespread a few weeks ago. :)
Apparently you’re not alone, though, with respect to Rock Band. I’m surprised to hear that people like the AC/DC stuff. I also thought the Thin Lizzy and live Pearl Jam songs were disappointing.
I have attended hundreds of live shows in my life, but I don’t typically listen to many live recordings.
Oh totally, no offense taken at all. I knew you were just kidding around and so was I.
And for the record I’m still hoping for some Widespread. :) While I spend my time these days mixing Blue Mushrooms with Herbs in MH:Tri, I still really like the music.
We held a RB party tonight. During which I noticed that we own 79 songs that begin with the letter T.
The amount of DLC available is amazing…
Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3 system (May 18):
Grateful Dead – “Beat It on Down the Line” +
Grateful Dead – “Cumberland Blues” +
Grateful Dead – “Scarlet Begonias” +
Grateful Dead – “Throwing Stones”
Grateful Dead – “Touch of Grey” +
Grateful Dead – “U.S. Blues” +
The Smithereens – “A Girl Like You”
The Smithereens – “Only a Memory” +
smh…
Well, the prankster’s definitely going to like that.
Holy fuck, Touch of Grey?!
Sweetness! Though I do have to wonder why they haven’t done Ripple. Besides Touch of Grey, Ripple seems like the song that would have the broadest appeal.

I’d prefer six Smithereens songs and two Grateful Dead, but I’ll take this. I’ll probably even buy Touch of Grey.
