Dust off your binger and fire up your lava lamp, cause the new Dead pack is some of the best charted Rock Band I’ve seen. Just played through em on expert guitar and all the tracks are so good I don’t even know what to recommend. All the tracks are that perfect difficulty where they are complex enough to be interesting and challenging, without being so insanely hard that it’s not even fun.

Throwing Stones is probably my favorite, but really it’s all so good. While the second Dead pack was much more a “for Deadheads only” kinda thing, this one is just great and anyone who likes well charted and intersting tracks will enjoy them (assuming you don’t hate the Dead). It’s much more akin to the first Dead pack that was just some really solid Rock Band stuff. Hats off to Harmonix for this one!

Wow, after that review I’ll have to get them. Are they available in a pack merry? Or do I have to buy them all for $2 each?

I’m going to sound like a total square for asking this, but what’s a binger? Are the letters B, N and G the key here?

Anyone rock these on the drums? Playing RB guitar is a chore for me these days, so don’t care much about them, but GD had some very fun drum charts (and some not so fun charts) in previous packs.

The pack is ten bucks Rock8, and if you are looking to cherry pick thaey are all good, so just pick the ones you like the sound of best. The weakest one is probably “Beat it on Down the Line”, simply because it’s pretty short, though the chart is good.

Oh c’mon Omni, you’re a Vermonter. Take a walk into Full Tank sometime, jeez, you should know these things. (or to be less snarky, a bong)

As for drums I have no idea, since I play drums on medium for the most part, I’m not really a good judge of drum charts.

Matt, did you not see 75% of that word, in caps, in my previous post? ;)

Beside, even if I were the type who’d walk into a head shop, I’d probably go to the Bern Gallery, because at least they have tasteful lamps and other decor on sale, as well.

Pantera next week:

· “The Great Southern Trendkill”

· “War Nerve”

· “Drag the Waters”

· “10’s”

· “13 Steps to Nowhere”

· “Suicide Note Pt. II”

· “Living Through Me (Hell’s Wrath)

· “Floods”

· “The Underground in America”

· “(Reprise) Sandblasted Skin”

I was hoping for “Fucking Hostile” but I can see why that isn’t going to happen.

About time Pantera made it to Rock Band. I think there’s far better stuff to choose from their catalog than The Great Southern Trendkill album, though. I’d take Domination, Cemetary Gates, Cowboys From Hell, This Love, Mouth For War, Five Minutes Alone, Fucking Hostile, or The Badge over anything on that album.

The only Pantera I’d want would be the Dallas Stars song - bring it on!

Yikes.

Wrong Pantera album.

Gaa, where’s the Creedence, the Led Zeppelin, more Fleetwood Mac FFS?

(you can all start with the “get off my lawn jokes” anytime)

We figure that you are old enough to be in a retirement home and thus do not have a lawn to get off of.

HAY! I resemble that remark…plus Creedence would be awesome.

Unless Plant changes his mind, there will be no LZ.

Re: Greatful Dead drumming

I haven’t bought the newest pack, but judging from all the older releases, you can’t go wrong. Except for Truckin’. That song really sucks, fun wise, whilst drumming.

And Pantera? Pass. I may look like Dimebag Darrel, but metalhead I am not. (Still, I would buy all of Countdown to Extinction.)

Dad Rock Rules! (And we need Peter Green Fleetwood not the 70’s wimpy version…)

Ehhh… I don’t know about the rest of the pack, but on rbdlc.com, there are only drum review for 2 songs. Touch of Grey is described as “an up tempo marathon that’s long and fast enough to wear you down”. US Blues is described as “Truckin on steroids, worse than the bad part of Ramblin Man”. That second one makes me cringe just thinking about it.

Yeah US Blues is awesome on guitar but playing it on the drums is like chewing on tin foil. It’s like a combination of Truckin and Two Princes. Brutal.

Touch of Grey is fast but fairly easy and repetitive.

so what’s good on drums, mang
