OMG please pinch me. That is fantastic news. FINALLY CCR gets its due. And it’s so awesome that they got the real version of “Fortunate Son” in there too.
Big sale on Rock Band tracks and track packs starting tomorrow on Xbox Live.
Full list here. I’m very tempted by a lot of those. Like Pearl Jam’s newer album (already have Ten), and the Red Hot Chili Peppers Album. For those of you who still don’t have the Who’s Best of stuff, grab it, it’s going to be half price, and it is amazing.
The Wolfmother tracks are well worth picking up at the sale price. All of them are a blast on every instrument.
The Boston pack is also a must-have.
Oh god. The steam sale ends and the Rock Band sale begins. My wallet sees no relief.
Omigawd omigawd omigawd, the Colbie Caillat track pack for Lips will be on sale!
And, er, the Eagles track pack for Guitar Hero. Yeah. (I actually might get this one…)
Too bad they probably won’t prorate the Rock Band DLC for the tracks I’ve already purchased. I’d love to get the rest of the Who tracks, but I’ve already picked up a few of 'em and don’t really want to buy them all over again.
And Boston is awesome to play. Shadarr’s right on.
Awesome sale, but I’m with Omni here. I’ve cherry picked a lot out of these packs already.
Definitely in for Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Peace Sells (5 bucks, wow). Both are albums I’ve wanted to pick up for a while now.
Kinda bummed the CCR is an all or nothing gig. I’m sure I’ll pick em up eventually, but I generally prefer just pulling my favorites out of these packs.
I figure it was probably a demand of the band, but CCR doesn’t have the pull of AC/DC so they at least don’t get a retail disc all to themselves.
Whatever, I’m just excited to play Green River when I get home tonight.

good point – there’s still no way to buy the AC/DC tracks outside the retail release.
Which, ironically is CRAZY cheap compared to what you’d pay for it as DLC, so that sort of … backfires.

I would have been up for the CCR if Harmonix had confirmed that it was compatible with Rock Band 3 pro mode. Until they make such an announcement, I’m not spending a dime on new songs.
Yeah, me neither. At this point I’ll only buy drum songs for RB2. Which means the Who pack is coming up! Good thing I never got around to buying it before now.
Would it be a good guess that the sale prices mean they are NOT compatible with RB3?

In the actual in-game music store you can buy the CCR songs individually.
I was in Rock Band 2 and only saw the whole pack. Where did you see them listed individually?
EDIT: Odd, a few hours later they are on there individually. Oh well, gald I waited.
A Harmonix representative has flat-out stated that no DLC will support Pro mode or keyboards prior to RB3’s release. The RB3 file format is not compatible with RB2.
There’s the possibility of them providing a free or discounted upgrade to RB3 versions of songs you already own, but you would have to download a new version of the song. And frankly, I just don’t see that happening. All songs released prior to RB3 will effectively play like RB2, even in RB3. You can play them, but there will be no Pro guitar and no keyboard track.
So while you’re right that it won’t be compatible, it has nothing to do with the sale.
So I played through a set of the CCR stuff and it was OK. Who’ll Stop the Rain and Down on the Corner were both really strumerific. Fortunate Son was a little better, but still not amazing. I also played Heard it Through the Grapevine, which ceratianly has some strumerific bits, but also has some fantastic guitar solo stuff.
As far as Guitar is concerned I would say that the CCR I played was good, but not great from a charting standpoint. I think that this is one of those packs where how much you like the band will weigh very heavily on whether this is worth picking up.
Yeah, that’s kind of what I figured. I like the songs in this pack, but just liking songs isn’t enough to get me to buy something these days. I gotta assume the drum tracks aren’t much more exciting.
