Some leaked RB2 songs courtesy of an X-Play screengrab:

[ul]
[li]Dream Theater - “Panic Attack” (could also be Finger Eleven) [/li][li]System of a Down - “Chop Suey”[/li][li]Red Hot Chili Peppers - “Give It Away”[/li][li]Foo Fighters - “Everlong”[/li][li]Kim Wilde - “Kids in America”[/li][li]Motörhead - “Ace of Spades”[/li][li]Cheap Trick - “Hello There”[/li][li]Journey - “Any Way You Want It”[/li][li]The Who - “Pinball Wizard”[/ul][/li]Also Bad Religion’s “Sorrow”

Finally, our prayers have been answered: a Kim Wilde song in a rhythm game!

I wish it had been “You keep me hangin’ on” instead though.

Bad Religion? Fuck yeah!

Not that I wouldn’t be buying the game day one no matter what, of course.

[/ul]So weird. I was just listening to this yesterday, wishing they would put it out as DLC. Actually, I was wishing for all of In Color as a DLC album*. Heaven Tonight would also be aces.[/li]
EDIT: And I also hope that this is the Albini version. But I’m not sure what the licensing issues would be with whomever holds the rights to the original album.

Panic Attack by Dream Theater will be crazy-go-nuts hard, and all kinds of awesome.

Everlong, sweet. Between the Rock Band and Guitar Hero games there have been 5 or 6 Foo Fighter songs that aren’t Everlong, which isn’t right.

Chop Suey and Give It Away are going to be pretty annoying but the rest is a wonderful mix of cheese and awesome.

I don’t know what you mean by annoying exactly, but I like the idea of a little SOAD in Rock Band. I wouldn’t buy a whole album or anything, but a single or two could be fun.

Those are the two songs I am personally looking forward to the most.

I guess that sums up Harmonix’s problem in a nutshell. You can’t please everybody.

I mean:
a) I personally don’t like listening to either of those songs
b) Anyone stuck with the mic when Chop Suey comes is going to struggle with it. It will be Sabotage (which I like, but it’s ridiculous to try to sing) all over again.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I like those occasional ridiculous vocals though. You should hear me on Ballroom Blitz.

Since the screenshot in question clearly shows the songs are in tier 2 maybe it’s not Dream Theater?

It’s in the same difficulty category as Give It Away, which shows pretty high difficulty ratings in the screenshot. I’m not sure what that 2 is all about.

Journey - “Any Way You Want It”

This makes Built to Spill less likely. Bummer.

I was hoping for “Don’t Stop Believin’” from Journey, but “Any Way You Want It” is good too.

All of Journey is great for the drunk friends deal.

Yes, even Lights - for the wind down/get everyone to go home.

Want to bet they’re saving that one for DLC?

I’ll take “Don’t Stop Believin’” any way I can get it. Just get it to me post haste!

Don’t think this has been brought up, but the screen shot from the IGN interview appears to be Nirvana’s “Drain You”

Great song. I’d take the entire Nirvana catalog to be honest. I can’t think of a song I wouldn’t want. My personal favorite is “Lounge Act” but I’d love to have them all so I could perform my own Nirvana concert in my basement. I’d even get a grungy sweater and light some candles.
