I believe Shinedown is part of the whole “Madden soundtrack” thing, but I haven’t checked to make sure, so I could be wrong.

More NIN gets a big meh from me. But at least they’re not just releasing three songs a week from the Madden soundtrack.

I love NIN but I rarely play any of that earlier pack they released. I’ll probably get the pack for my love of the band…but I don’t have high hopes the songs will be fun to play. Except Last. That just has to rock.

I admit with NIN it’s tough to play synth solos on the guitar and actually drum a drum machine programmed beat but you cannot deny as a singer the opportunity to belt out “This world rejects me! BURN!” :)

In other words I’m always looking forward to more NIN in Rock Band.

I would’ve preferred Survivalism off Year Zero.

Meh-gaton.

One of the songs (Devour) is off their latest album. Wouldn’t have been my pick, but it’s not bad, and it’s definitely one of the least offensive picks from the Madden 09 soundtrack. Junkies for Fame, however, is a b side that’s never been put on an album. I expect it’s something that would resonate with a real fan.

Other than that, I’m always briefly excited by new NIN. It’s like the prospect of new Metallica…I have high hopes, but the last batch didn’t do a lot for me.

I love the NIN tracks, but god damn, it’s hard to sing like Trent. March of the Pigs is one of my favorite songs, but I just cannot scream like him.

The Who pack is just so utterly kickass. What a great collection of songs that are all fun to play.

So, I can’t decide whether to get the NIN pack or not. I watched a few videos, and only one seems that fun on guitar. Any suggestions?

The Disturbed pack is doing phenomenally well – it’s already ahead of Fall Out Boy and Muse, according to the rankings on DLCStats.com, and “Inside the Fire” will probably be one of the next songs to break 100k (only 14 songs have done that so far). The Pixies release, on the other hand, is absolutely flopping.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! I want Surfer Rosa!

I just found out one of my old OXM disks had a few free DLC tracks on it, so I got that going for me…

I have both packs and am a big fan of NIN, but they are dead weight in terms of how fun they are to play (at least for a primary guitar emphasis like mine). To my surprise, the one I like best off the last pack was Capital G. Burn was lame as predicted, and Last just rubbed me the wrong way despite having all of the elements of awesome that I could superficially pick out. Maybe it’s just a bit too long and a bit too hard for me, I don’t know.

The Disturbed pack is 2/3 very good, with Insanity being just a bit too far beyond my difficulty comfort zone for me to play it often. It’s not going to win over people that are reflexively dismissive of the band (nothing can), but I can see how it would be nicely connected to the Xbox demographic.

I didn’t find the original pixies song on the disc fun at all, and nothing I saw of the new releases made me think I wanted them. If they’d gone with something a bit more commercialized like Where is my mind? I probably would have bitten.

The Shinedown tracks are a lot of fun. The NIN pack was okay except for Burn.

I’m pretty sure he just speaks in a normal (slightly angsty) voice and they just apply millions of filters. I’m more impressed that he can sing lines like “inside your heart it is black and it’s hollow and it’s cold” without laughing. I can’t.

I’ve seen nin live 3 times, and i never got the impression trent was singing in anything remotely resembling a normal voice. I don’t think you can make the veins bulge out on your neck that much when speaking in a normal voice. :)

OK, I have been an ‘Easy’ Guitar Hero 3 player since picking up the game a few weeks ago, but I transitioned to Medium when I started playing Rock band and have been working my way through the charts. I survived pretty well until frigging Vasoline, but the quick 1-2-1-2-1-2 shit just isnt registering right on my game. Anyone got any hints how I can get through this song?

Just in case you didn’t already know, for a single note only the rightmost string you’re holding down counts, so if it’s a GRGRGRGR… sequence you can just hold down G and then alternate R on and off, which might be easier for you.

Practice mode. Slow it down and work on the timing, then speed it up until you can play it at full speed.

My wife plays on hard, and she STILL has a hard time with Vasoline’s hammer-ons. I don’t know why.
