Kind of funny they granted my wish a week later. Unfortunately for me - it’s a week too late as I won’t have an internet connection at home for at least the next 2 months. They look like a lot of fun to play.
BYOB is crazy on drums. After weeks of practice I can barely squeek through March of the Pigs (on expert), and BYOB has that sort of pattern but possibly faster, plus a whole lot of other crazy fast repetitions that will give me fits for months. I think with a couple weeks I could manage Toxicity though, and it should be fun once I get it down.

Played both the SOAD songs today at lunch. Toxicity is a fun one on drums, only got 4 stars on sight read.
B.Y.O.B. has a pretty fast drum part. I failed at around 60% the first two tries, but made it through on the third. It’s the extended mosh in the middle with the rapid Yellow+Kick Red repeat pattern that was doing me in - if you get off on the timing of that it’s sayonara.
I could not get through B.Y.O.B. on expert guitar at all. I’m sure sluggo has FC’d it already.
Your post actually got me off the drums and made me pick up the guitar again. I can’t do BYOB on expert on guitar yet, but it looks like a fun challenge. I’ll definitely manage on guitar sooner than drums.
Somewhere up thread I said I was on the fence about these SOAD songs, but they seem to be great songs now that I’m actually playing. The only problem is I still can’t see anyone wanting vocals on these at the next party unless they’re really drunk.
edit: And try the bass on BYOB if you want some practice for the guitar. It’s basically the same track but with no chords and shorter reach between notes. I made it through that on my first try. It was sloppy, but doable, and it should help with the strumming rhythm for guitar.
So the “fucks” in B.Y.O.B were just blanked out. No scrambled words or replacement words like “screw me” in the Garbage track. I haven’t downloaded it yet is there anything in the vocal track cues or is that blank too?
New DLC for the 12th:
Roadrunner 6 Pack
Airbourne – Runnin’ Wild
DevilDriver – Clouds Over California
Dream Theater – Constant Motion
Killswitch Engage – My Curse
Machine Head – Aesthetics Of Hate
Megadeth – Sleepwalker
All tracks are masters and only 80 points, or 480 for the pack…for the first month. After than, 160/800.
I assume Roadrunner refers to the record label, which makes me sad that we missed out on some Type O Negative, probably due to them switching labels.
Though it feels good that there’s not going to be nothing but crap between the Who pack and RB2 as was expected.
There’s no reason to hold back on DLC before RB2 since it’ll all be day one avaialble for those people who don’t own RB1. Now GH3 and GH:WT is another story. :)
Those are cheap. I’ve never heard of Airbourne, but the rest are decent metal bands (OK, Megadeth is more than decent and Dream Theater is more proggy).

Man did you see what Neversoft is serving up as DLC this week? A lame pack that everyone already got for free when it launched. I’m suuuuuuuuuuure they will be do better for World Tour, uh huh.

Go and listen now, they’re like the reincarnation of AC/DC. I’d never heard of them either (though I now realize they had a song in Burnout: Paradise) but I like this song best of this week’s DLC. Megadeth’s great and all, but Sleepwalker isn’t their best song.

Jesus Christ, you’re not kidding. I can’t quite place the song, but that’s almost a chord-for-chord cover of some song I can’t think of.

Now I want to ride around in a tractor trailer with Lemmy as my chauffeur :(
Yeah, that does sound like the best one this week, and probably the only one I can sell my wife on.
I’d LOVE In My Darkest Hour though. Peace Sells will be fun in RB2, but Darkest Hour is my favorite Megadeth song and would just be fun in the game, IMO.

Yeah, it’s the only one I’ll definitely buy. I’m a little tempted by Megadeth just because it’s Megadeth but otherwise I’m pretty meh on the rest. The Scorehero types are already spooging over Dream Theater but I find them pretty tuneless.
Also, agree about In My Darkest Hour. That, Almost Honest and Blood of Heroes are my favourites.

Sweating Bullets would be a blast to sing. Hell, Countdown to Extinction would be great album DLC.

Quick question: Which songs are considered for the career score? Only the main songlist, or the Bonus Songs too (The Konks, Vagiant etc.)? I’m pretty sure that DLC doesn’t count, right?
Airborne, Megadeth, Dream Theater : Yes!
Cookie monster profanity: NO!
For 99 cents, I’ll download the Megadeth song just to show I support having more of them in the game. But then I’ll probably delete it because I don’t overly care for that song either.
What a strange way to behave.
