Well the narrative was she’s a blue collar mom, cares about jobs and real people, their real problems, the salt of the earth, no harm meant, that’s just how real people talk away from the coastal elite media bubble, they deserve to have a voice too, and so on.
Problem is all those arguments saying you deserve to have your voice heard and aren’t really racist fall apart once you call a black woman a monkey.
The Deep State has infiltrated the realm of representation now and won’t stop until every free speaking American has been brought to heel! Who will stand up for these right-wing Hollywood actors that are being denied their basic right of representation?!
You have to wonder about, um, judgment, here? I mean, Barr is no ingenue or some naif; she’s a seasoned actor with a lot of industry experience. Did she actually think that she could say what she said in 2018 and no one would care? I guess “think” is the problem?
She also has a 30 year pattern of consistently erratic behavior too, so…
As I flash back to my 20s (and the 90s) I remember her consistently skirting the edge of getting fired and having the series cancelled then. And saying incredibly offensive things in public on a regular basis.
The judgement I’d wonder about is ABC’s in the first place. Poor John Goodman. :(
Perhaps they are calling it a joke because of Roseanne’s heartfelt apology?
“I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”
Yes I am being sarcastic. That apology is bullshit. She doesn’t apologize for being racist, she apologizes for being a bad comedienne.
