The purges and the state of emergency declaration have never ended since then. There have been hundreds detained and questioned or arrested every week. Just before the bombings there were reports of 55 more arrest warrants issued in Istanbul including many university staff and academics, plus the last 2 owners of a Kurdish news channel, and owners and execs of a pharma company.
In a country where you shut down all independent media, yeah, it’s easy to see how the officials can’t comprehend the idea of actual journalists being able to respond quickly to events.
