GMX Media has informed the Adrenaline Vault that Runaway: A Road Adventure for the PC has gone gold and will start hitting stores on Aug. 18. The game follows a college student who’s mysteriously attacked by Mafia gangsters. During his desperate flight - and while in the company of a striptease dancer - he ends up meeting a wide range of characters. Runaway will feature approximately 100 settings and 30 interactive characters. Gameplay movies and more information can be found on the Runaway website.
It’s been bounced back about as often as Daikatana over here. It was meant to be out months ago, but gets shunted a month every time it reaches a planned release date.
I’ll definitely be playing it. I’m always up for a good adventure game. Lately, we seem to get them at a rate of one per year. I guess this year we have both this and Dark Fall (though I bought the UK version of Dark Fall and played it last year, so it doesn’t really count for me).
I finished it and wrote a review of it some time ago (it’s already out in Europe). It’s good, not great, just good. An old school adventure game with decent humor and twisted puzzles. Not Monkey Island quality, of course, but what is ?
OOHH, I thought you guys we’re gonna talk about that cheezy-assed Tom Selleck movie from the mid-80’s.
Hey, I liked that movie. It had some interesting underlying ideas under the cheese. Although Gene Simmons could have kicked everyone’s ass using his tongue alone, without having to resort to a bunch of technicial stuff.

At this point I’ll settle for a “just good” adventure game, given all the homemade suckware being passed off as commercial games in that genre.
