It is the opinion of this poster that all that gangsta rap and violent videogames are destroying posters like RepoMan.

Way to man up, sincerely. It’s a weird little island we’ve found here in the vast sea of dreck, it’s pretty easy to let the other islands’ stupid seep over. Keep posting, baby!

H.

Cartoons aside, have you guys discussed her comment on the nuke reduction treaty?
Seemingly she thinks cutting the arsenal won’t leave enough toys for her to play with later on.

Even Saint Ronnie was for reduction of nuclear arms. Teabaggers blow my mind.

Conservatives got really mad at Reagan for his nuke reduction stuff, and they’ve kind of shoved it down the memory hole.

Are they aware that just whats left in the subs is enough to destroy the world completly?
It doesn’t take that many nuke hits before radiation will surely kill us all anyway.

Yes, but taking the option of unprovoked nuclear attacks against non-nuclear states off the table leaves us all so terribly, terribly vulnerable. It’s only a matter of time, now, before they tear us apart like hungry wolves…

John Stewart did a wonderful job of ripping the right a new one on this topic. What amazes me is that Fox News seems to have completely given up any effort* towards reporting news and just reports what it wants to be news, eg, that Obama, omg, had removed any first strike right, when in fact, he hadn’t.

  • I’m assuming they’ve at least tried to be a news organisation at some point.

…I mean, how can you have an informed public when one of the most popular news channel plain-out lies over and over again. I know our NZ news organisations are broadly incompetent, but they at least try and get the facts right and report the fairly impartially. Jeez.

Atleast you guys got sun, I haven’t seen the sun in 6 months!!

You can’t. It’s a complete abdication of journalistic integrity. I’d love for the government to regulate newcasts so that you can’t purposefully mislead the public (and calling it “entertainment” doesn’t count as a loophole). Unfortunately, that then opens the door to government controlling what can be said for news.

I’m at a loss really. I think Fox, and people that defend it, are essentially destroying journalism and the value of free press. The ability to disseminate blatant falsehoods on such a large scale is criminal to me. 200 years ago, a snake oil salesman was scum, but his impact was limited to the people one man could actually contact.

It’s really depressing. Most of the time I adopt a head in the sand approach to our politics because if I pay attention, it ruins my day, every day.

Palin blames ‘Gore-gate’ for ‘this snake oil science stuff.’

PALIN: We should create a competitive climate for investment in renewables and alternatives, none of this snake oil science stuff that is based on this global warming, Gore-gate stuff that came down where there was revelation that the scientists, some of these scientists were playing political games. I sued the Feds over this, I sued the Feds over this as Governor for some bogus listing on the ESA, just about got run out of town by the environmentalists. But now we feel a little bit vindicated because we’re realizing through Gore-gate that there was some snake oil science involved over the data collection there … We invented the Internet, unless that was just another Gore-gate thing too.

She is such an impressive woman.

And a brilliant shot at Jay Leno. :)

What the fuck is Gore-gate?

I did a quick look around and every Gore-gate reference out there is just talking about this stupid thing this stupid woman said. Has she decided she can make something controversial and toss suspicion on it by simply adding -gate to the end? Did I just blow her scheme wide open? Is this Palin-gate?

I guess the real question is… will her inevitable 2012 presidential campaign use ICP’s “Miracles” as the signature song? Snake Oil Science stuff, indeed.

I’ve usually heard it called Climate-gate, but they’re referring to those leaked emails. Because, of course, everything related to climate change comes straight from Al Gore’s dictatorial authority.

Yeah, I realized she probably meant the CRU e-mails after I thought about it for a while. Climate-gate is a dumbshit enough name for it, though. Gore-gate just goes right on out there, since he has nothing to do with it at all.

Since when has that ever stopped them before?

It’s actually a pretty good tag line, branding Al Gore himself as a failure of Watergate-like proportions. It doesn’t even matter whether it’s true; just saying it bends reality itself like the taffy at the center of Palin’s brain.

Given that she is a media figure in a one-way relationship ever since follow-up questions from the likes of Katie Couric were eliminated, all of the press around here follow the Make-Announce-Type news model satirized by Colbert.
