I’ll pitch in, this is for Tom:
“What stars do spangle our troops with such beauty,
As those winking eyes become that heavenly face?”
And one for fun:
“Illegal immigrants shall not be in our camp,
Lest it discomfort us. Brewer, come;
And come, young Bachmann; let us to the field.”

It’s not a spelling mistake, I’m coining a new word!
But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the West, and Russia is the sun!
I love it. This gave me a good chuckle this morning.
I can see his bald spot from my house!

You guys are always good for a laugh!! This is great.
Also one of my liberal newsletters is scared that she is electable as President of the US. I just don’t see it. We’ve elected presidents whom we suspected were stupid and we were right, but I don’t recall electing a president that we knew was 100% stupid before we elected him.
Depends on how you define “stupid.” Also, the problem is that LOTS OF PEOPLE DON’T THINK SHE’S STUPID. They think she’s right. They think she’s making good points. They don’t “know” she’s stupid. I still don’t think she’s electable, because I think that in this rare case we’re actually underestimating the intelligence of the American public, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are a lot of people who think that she’s just a seriously smart lady.

Maybe we’re misunderestimating them instead.
I’ll be amazed if she gets the Republican nomination. Other adjectives will apply as well, most of them descriptors of extreme fear.

The republican base understands that their candidates are mostly figureheads being run by “the smart guys in the back room” so they aren’t nearly as sensitive to the ridiculous idiocy of their candidate. She has an excellent chance of winning if the Dems are lackadaisical and the Repubs bus in the vote.

It’s not that they don’t think she’s stupid, that can be proven. They don’t care that she’s stupid and this is the scary part.

I wouldn’t bet against it, but I certainly don’t think her odds would be very high. She has a fan base, and she’s riding the tea party for everything it’s worth.
But she would have to win a Republican presidential primary or announce herself independent, losing part of her base. If she had finished her term as governor I think she would have a better chance, but again, I don’t think she knows a thing and I’m consistently amazed at the crowds and talk that she draws. She rolled pretty high on her charisma stat. Lets hope she shaved a few points off luck and that’s what bites her in the end.
I think Int was the dump stat. She’s already demonstrated plenty of luck.

I’m still not really sure what her great life plan is. Does she really want to run for president? Or does she just want to become a sort of Rush Limbaugh figure and rake in the dough? Maybe even she does not know. She’s doing some of the things you’d do if you wanted to run for president, but not all of them.
I’ve found “what would that chick in the drama queen handstand internet jpg do” has been a good guide so far.
The things you want to do when you run for president and the things you want to do when you want to sit around and bloviate about crap you don’t understand aren’t entirely dissimilar to one another. I suspect that if she’s being savvy about her business (and regardless of what you think of her intellect, she’s got SOME kind of business sense that got her to where she is), she’ll be hedging both bets at least until after the midterm elections.

Good call. I should have thought of it this way. I’ve obviously failed my will saving throw.
Foiled by Palin, again.

This article by Jonathan Chait (not sure if it’s been posted here yet or not) sees the 2010 election as a pretty good test for that. Essentially, if Sharron Angle and Rand Paul manage to harness enough ANGRY TEA POWER to get elected despite being kinda fringey, we could be in for some chop.
It’s possible that the GOP wave will be strong enough in 2010 to push most or even all these weak candidates into office. If that doesn’t happen, I wonder if we’ll start to see some recriminations. If it does, tactical radicals will be even more emboldened, and I don’t see what could stop Sarah Palin from taking the 2012 nomination if she wants it.
