Criticizing her on grounds of how much she tips is the sort of shit that got Bush re-elected.

When you make $13M and then refuse to share it with people making .1 percent of that, it says something about you as a person. And as we’ve all seen, who people are play at least as well as what they say.

I’d like to see some links that are specific regarding the VF piece. What was quoted above seems knee-jerky. I’m not saying they are wrong, but I’d like to see the specific parts of the article they are calling unfair.

I agree that a the VF article had some sour mix of “too personal” and “politics as usual” but aside from some heavy conclusions I don’t think it’s simply wrong. It’s true that the contents of the article are not shocking, but I also think that the quality of her character comes through quite clear.

Ben Smith has already pointed out a couple of inaccuracies in the piece that mostly point to poor fact-checking on the part of VF.

Suggests to me that the piece needs to be taken with a grain of salt, as much as I’d rather just believe it. But anyway, we don’t have to dislike her for being mean to her children or trying to use them for politics (which tons of politicians do). It’s enough for me to hear her open her mouth and let the idiocy spew out. I still want her to get the Republican nomination because there is absolutely no way she can win.

The sad thing here is that this VF piece will only serve to fuel her inane “lamestream media” blather; there is no doubt in my mind that she will conveniently forget that other members of the “lamestream media” came to her defense.

Keep in mind that it’s almost entirely anonymously sourced, so you have to take it with a grain of salt. I can write an anonymously sourced article that says basically anything.

Do not take this as an endorsement of Sarah Palin as it is not, but being a “Nice Guy” isn’t really part of the “Good President” equation.

This is less a matter of who is and isn’t a nice guy and more a matter of whether or not the person in question trades on her image of being in touch with the common man and speaking up for real America. Well, real America doesn’t make $13m a year and real America could probably use a tip when they have to lug ten giant bags up the stairs for this non-nice guy.

Reading those early posts is fascinating. Much serious speculation about how effective she would be - little did we know that she was so stupid she’d manage to make Bush look like a genius. It took about 2 weeks before it became apparent what sort of babbling moron she was.
