Go away happy? Nah, she’ll never go away. She’s going to be a major fixture on the American political landscape for the next 30 years.

Naw, she’ll be happy in a Sarah Palin way, showing ‘those evil liberals who deprive her of her first amendment rights’ that she can in fact be a victim yet again.
Absolutely … in the same way that Harold Stassenwas. Every election cycle she’ll announce she’s running for something or supporting somebody, and every election cycle the media will run some stories about her, ostensibly praising her for her determination but actually mocking her for her for being a serial loser. And the young people will say, “Who is she and why do they pay attention to her?” and the old folks will smile and reply, “She ran for vice president once, a long time ago.”
She will, however, never hold another elective office. Partly because she’s already shown she’d much rather be on a basic cable reality show than accept any actual responsibility, but mostly she has made enemies of everyone who might help her. Though they may make nice in public to avoid offending her followers, the Republican establishment in DC loathes her for putting her own drama ahead of the party in the 2008 election. The combination of quitting as governor and arch-enemy Lisa Murkowski winning re-election means Palin’s political hopes in Alaska are dead. And even now the Republican 2012 hopefuls are sharpening their knives, hoping they can make their reps as the ones who knocked her out of the race before she self-destructs.

I think she’s more following the mold of Newt Gingrich, who, every election cycle, teases that he’s thinking about running for president, but never does anything to actually run. Instead he just keeps raking in the cash doing speeches or whatever he is doing. I assume he hints he may run for president to raise his value. Anyways, Palin has said that money was at least part of the reason she left politics.
Well, I hope you’re right. My guess, though, is that she’s revealed a niche in the ecosystem and if she doesn’t end up inhabiting it herself, she’ll be replaced by someone even worse, much as Glen Beck has flourished in the ecological niche revealed by Rush Limbaugh.
I honestly hope Sarah tries to run. Not because I think she’ll help Obama win, because she won’t even make it out of the primaries. Instead, I’d like to see her run because I think it’d be fun to see her get completely taken apart by her fellow Republicans. To see what her friends in the lamestream press do when they have a GOP choice between her and someone who is actually capable of maybe winning the thing.
Also, I like to think that there’d be a base of Grizzly Mamas (or what the fuck ever) who, when she was defeated by someone else, would turn on the someone else in a heartbeat and either refuse to vote or vote for the opposition out of sheer tantrum. Kind of like those Hillaryis44 people did back in 08 when Obama won. This one is a little less realistic than the other, since… well, lots of reasons. Many of them to do with gender and race. Even if Obama were to add Clinton as his VP, Grizzly Mamas (Jesus, I hate myself for typing that) would probably not be likely to consider Clinton a fellow Mama, even if their alternative was someone who had just clowned Palin in the primaries.
Either way, though, it would be fun to see the anti-Palin attack ads from people she probably thinks of as peers and colleagues right now.
Same. I’d always heard that George HW Bush was actually a really nice, down to Earth, sweet guy. It’s Barbara that was a real cranky, grudge holding son of a bitch to deal with. It’s said George W took after his mom and Jeb took after his dad.

I wonder if he keeps civil liberties in a jar and shows it to his daughters.
Cotton candy?
Let’s go with Grizzled Mothers, which spins a somewhat more amusing image.

This should be the only thing an opponent ever need replay in any possible future political contention.

Somebody hasn’t been taking their children’s-blood baths.
I think Bristol lost. Has anybody started complaining about the liberal slant in Dancing With the Stars?

I just sent that link to my wife. If you listen very carefully, you should be able to hear the high-pitched whining sound of cartoon steam spewing out of her ears.

CO-HOST: How would you handle a situation like the one that just developed in North Korea? […]
PALIN: But obviously, we’ve got to stand with our North Korean allies. We’re bound to by treaty –
CO-HOST: South Korean.
PALIN: Eh, Yeah. And we’re also bound by prudence to stand with our South Korean allies, yes.

Well, we can’t expect much from a talking points generator. Someone should make a soundboard with all her possible answers. I am sure it would be, like, 50 voice samples max.
“We need”
“South/North Korea”
“Sanctions”
“National security”
“Also China”

Mama Grizzlies needs to be on there.
Yeah, see, I don’t care so much about the North Korea/South Korea thing. It’s a really stupid slip of the tongue, but it’s still just a slip of the tongue. THIS, though. This is pure toxic shit-headery.

Well, we have seen currents of maternalist feminism run along parallel to modern feminism in many countries. Where housewives defend their right to be housewives. But that was mostly in the 30s and 50s. Saying that today is fucking stupid, and the only reason she can say that s thanks to the feminists.
If it were up to her precious founding fathers, she would be busy doing the dishes, not ex-governing.
