Tom can get his own damn Palin-related towel.

I bet she’s a screamer.

I hate you.

Cannot unsee/hear.

That is the most disturbing thing I’ve watched in a long time.

The democrats are just lucky that all their female politicians are too ugly for anyone to make sexual jokes about.

I hate to inform you of this, but Sarah Palin would be the butt of jokes no matter what she looked like.

It is unfortunate she is pretty though - such videos provide plenty of ammo for her to perpetuate her persecution complex.

But they wouldn’t be sexual jokes.

It really would be funny to see the reaction that the same people would have if similar jokes were made about a politician they supported. I have to suspect there would be a pretty massive degree of outrage, pointing out the obvious sexism of such things. Generally, belittling another person through transforming them into a sexual object is frowned upon these days.

But it’s perfectly OK to say that they’re ugly. Because that’s so much more mature and relevant to their views.

Yeah, no one makes jokes on the uglies…

Idunno, Gabrielle Giffords was kind of cute. I hope that she remains so.

That statement was kind of meant to point out how it could be seen as offensive, through example.

Timex is right, guys. I’ve never, ever, ever heard anybody in the GOP, any commentator, any politician, any member whatsoever, at all, period comment on the attractiveness, or lack thereof, of Hillary Clinton.

That’s cos the dudes on the right are classy motherfuckers.

For what it’s worth, we objectify women without heed of job, status, or even political affiliation. The reactions are pretty much the same. The outrage over that comes and goes, you see headlines about it fairly consistently. A google search on “hot politicians” will prove to be a pretty popular theme.

Also for what it’s worth, Sarah isn’t a politician anymore. She is more of a public figure, commentator, reality series star … or something. Considering how badly we objectify actual television and movie stars, the treatment Sarah gets could be much worse.

Her “sex appeal” was part of the reason why she was in the running in the first place.

Only you can keep threads safe from trolling. P&R is everyone’s responsibility.

But seriously, is no thread sacred? Obvious troll is obvious, guys and gals.

Oh yes

I can’t seem to get myself worked up about the sex jokes about Palin, (they’re not even that risqué!) since she’s banked so heavily on it in the first place to power her meteoric rise to fame.

edit: double post

That’s exactly the thing, isn’t it though? It’s the hypocrisy.
Criticizing Hillary because she wasn’t hot was totally inappropriate. And people called them on it. It was deemed offensive, especially by huge numbers of women.

I think there are actually quite a few women who also find that kind of talk about Palin to be offensive, even if they may hate her politics.
