Individual voters have relatively little say over who gets a party nomination. Even in states that have primaries, the voters are typically electing delegates to send to the convention, not specific candidates. If the GOP doesn’t want Palin on the party ticket, her only viable option is to run third-party.

I’m no fan of Palin, but just because she figuratively whores herself out doesn’t mean she should be treated like one.

Asking when she’s going to do a spread for Maxim is as much a jab at the way she’s going to make money as it is a compliment to her attractiveness, one which Tom used to hilarious comedic effect considering his crush on her, IMO… even though I was then crass about it because hey, that’s what Pogo sorta does sometimes.

I don’t think that Tom or Pogo mean anything terribly misogynistic by their comments, but the state of discourse is so far from the ideal where we judge women by their actions and positions rather than their bazoongas or what have you that any such comments are /rolleye fodder for many people.

And come on, on this forum and this thread Palin has been overwhelmingly judged by her actions. It’s just that some times, 3 Invisible Dicks is god damned hilarious.
The W word really isn’t as loaded as Athryn is making it out to be, and I’d remind Athryn she once referred to another female poster here on Qt3 as an “attention whore.”
Certainly in the context of selling yourself or those you care about, Palin has acted in accordance with the idea of prostitution. She has demonstrated no hesitation as regards putting her family on display in various reality TV shows in order, I presume, for financial benefit as well as to remain in the public eye. Wearing a cross at a motorcycle rally one day and a Star of David the next while visiting New York is further indication of her willingness to debase her own beliefs in order to please her prospective audience. I don’t think it’s completely out of line to compare her behavior to that of a prostitute.
And I think we can all agree Tom’s comments regarding her sex appeal are the continuation of a long-running (and perhaps somewhat exhausted) tongue in cheek joke. I’d be hard-pressed to think of anyone less likely to objectify any woman than Tom Chick, a perception he’s clearly playing off. I’d also remind everyone she’s a former beauty pageant contestant so it’s not completely out of bounds to remark on her appearance.
