I think its just as common in Democrat politics, but it just isn’t covered by the news media as much. I don’t disagree that it is used a lot in Republican politics, but have you ever listened to anything Joe Biden has ever said? At least Palin isn’t in charge of anything and hasn’t stated plans to run for anything. I think we can all be grateful for that. Hopefully she is just building hype for her next book or speech giving tour or something.

Politicians sometimes say stupid shit. That’s a fact. Both sides have dumb statements on record.

The difference is that recently, (couple decades) it’s not uncommon to hear super-ignorant or racist speech on one side of the aisle, while the other side of the aisle says stupid shit that’s just boring. It’s a lot tougher to get a good viral video or a news story out of boring and dumb. But suggesting that the negro may have been better off under slavery? GOLD! Waterboarding? RUN IT!

Wow, you’re so wrong. You guys are seriously underestimating Palin. I know many of you assume all of us on the right are morons, but you’re wrong. A lot of us are pretty damn smart (guess how many Fortune 500 CEO’s are voting Obama – besides Buffett at Berkshire I’m not coming up with any off the top of my head). And we’ve found a leader with absolutely extraordinary, once in a generation, charisma to get behind. She’ll have an army of very smart people at her command to do the nitty gritty detailed junk while she rallies the masses against the economically disastrous Obama presidency. And realistically there’s nothing President Obama can do about it – the next four year are going to be very tough on all of us, and he’ll (unfairly mostly) get the blame.

Those polls are meaningless. The underlying, popular Republican support is overwhelmingly behind Palin, whatever any current poll says. Try to imagine Mitt Romney attracting 20,0000 screaming fans. She easily – EASILY, forget whatever polls you’re looking at – wins the 2012 primary. The more important point is this. The Republican party has this odd thing about who’s next in line. The people with the money and the influence plus the local precint-by-precint bosses figure out who’s turn it is and unite behind them early and overwhelmingly, so we never, in modern times, have the Obama/Clinton mess kind of thing you guys went through. Reagan tried to break that rule in 1976 and failed; it was Ford’s turn. Reagan’s turn was 1980. Father Bush’s turn as former VP was 1988. Dole was up in line in 1996 and lost in a hopeless election. The 2000 election was tricky, because there was no obvious successor. The party elders got together and united behind younger Bush as a result – once he becomes the choice, the money and influence gets behind him, then he’s the party standard bearer and wins. It was McCain’s turn this time to be the party choice after losing in 2000, and he’ll lose now. He’s an honorable candidate who will be the sacrificial lamn in a Democrartic year like Dole in 1996, but he’ll have have had his shot and lost it. Now we turn to 2012. No question, no doubts, no hesitation, the “next in line” Republican party has already decided that Palin is the one. Anyone who even declares their candidacy in 2012 will literally be laughed at by the Republican voter base.

If she’s the Republican ideal of “extraordinary, once in a generation charisma,” this generation’s Republicans are a sorry lot.

That’s pretty much my take on it too. As soon as I start maybe feeling a little bit sorry for her, she opens her mouth and I remember why she deserves no sympathy.

Palin’s calling for Obama’s impeachment:

The Republican firebrand wrote in a an op-ed published Tuesday in the conservative website Breitbart that “(Obama’s) unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ‘no mas.’”

In the blistering op-ed, the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee accuses Obama of intentionally allowing immigrants into the United States, hampering American job opportunities.

“President Obama’s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here,” she wrote.

“It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment.”

There are so many things wrong with her stance that I’ll just let it speak for itself.
