Yes well, said presidential candidate didn’t properly research her before announcing her as his running mate.
She really couldn’t stop referring to him as Joe O’Biden? Ha! Vote Irish! Vote O’Bama and O’Biden!
If i take of my wide-view-broken-political-process glasses, i have a lot of sympathy for her (at the same time as not being able to like most of what she stands for). She was that minor league quarter-back hustled into the play-off game due to the regular quarterback getting injured (kind of thing). She was way out of her league as potential vice-president, and that is part of her charm and vileness at the same time, she wanted it really badly, she seems to be someone (going on the other film/documentary about her) that craves power and will do anything (including forcing herself into nervous breakdown territory) to get it. It is rather sad and tragic in many ways, IF she also was not hugely dangerous to american democracy at the same time (and people like her in general).
In the book the way she’s portrayed comes off as a mix of tragic and sympathetic at first. Here’s a lady who really did love her family dearly, this sort of bumpkin from the sticks who really had no idea what she was getting into. Her vetting process was comedic. McCain couldn’t decide on a running mate and needed one and they honestly barely vetted her at all. When it becomes apparent she’s out of her depth and starting to have mental breaks and missing her baby desperately…well, it’s sad. You can’t help but feel for her.
…And then she makes the calculus that this is her 15 Minutes, and decides to ride that wave for as long as she can and become a grown up Honey Boo Boo and that well of sympathy disappears. She becomes a totally different character and one that is utterly repugnant by book’s end.
It should be noted that Palin & Co have issued non-denial denials of the way things are presented in Game Change…but she’s never sued, and all involved stand by their stories.
I find it impossible to muster any sympathy for her, given some of the really horrible things she’s said. A terrible person out of her depth is still a terrible person.
I remember reading a story about the vetting team turning up in Alaska…after it had been announced.

I wish the Coen Bros would make a movie about her. I feel like they could nail the surreal narcissism, and you know Frances McDormand would kill.
No need to have sympathy. She’s cashed in for millions. The only reason she’s hanging around making her crazy, shrill statements is she’s trying to extend her shelf life. I doubt she really believes in much of anything.
I was debating which GOP thread to put this in, but as Sarah Palin is pretty much the poster child of what is wrong with the GOP, this seemed the most appropriate:
‘The GOP self-destruction is complete: millennials officially hate conservatives’:
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jul/14/gop-self-destruction-millennials-conservatives-backlash
Conservatives are stuck in a perpetual outrage loop. The reappearance of Todd Akin, the horror-movie villain immortality of Sarah Palin, the unseemly celebration of the Hobby Lobby decision – these all speak to a chorus of “la-la-la-can’t-hear-you” loud enough to drown out the voice of an entire generation. Late last week, the Reason Foundation released the results of a poll about that generation, the millennials; its signature finding was the confirmation of a mass abandonment of social conservatism and the GOP. This comes at a time when the conservative movement is increasingly synonymous with mean-spirited, prank-like and combative activism and self-important grand gestures. The millennial generation has repeatedly defined itself as the most socially tolerant of the modern era, but one thing it really can’t stand is drama.
…
The GOP has long staked a claim on The Disappearing Angry White Man, but they have apparently ever-narrowing odds of getting a bite at millennials, who appear to be more like The Somewhat Concerned Multicultural Moderate. This generation is racially diverse, pro-pot, pro-marriage equality and pro-online gambling. They are troubled by the deficit but believe in the social safety net: 74% of millennials, according to Reason, want the government to guarantee food and housing to all Americans. A Pew survey found that 59% of Americans under 30 say the government should do more to solve problems, while majorities in all other age groups thought it should do less.
Sarah Palin has started her own $9.95 per month subscription channel. It was inevitable.

Right now Jon Stewart is rubbing his hands together and cackling gleefully over the fact that his writing team just received an early Christmas present.
Eh. No worse than some of the Patron “artists” going around.
But it acts as a portal to Bristol’s blog. Surely that’s worth the $10/month sub?
A fool and her money are soon united?
Assuming the flip side of the saying is true.
;-)
Regular income wasn’t enough to keep her in the governor’s office her whole term. I’m thinking this won’t last.
I think Sarah Palin may need to see a neurologist:
I think that was a shot at humor, something the right is just so bad at, probably because it’s hard to parody things like compassion and intelligence.
Now now, Boris Johnson for example was absolutely great (and very funny) when he appeared in light entertainment, like his appearances on Have I Got News For You.
He’s been a disaster as the Mayor of London. The other sort of funny, in fact :/
But, er, that video…just…one time-VP candidate…America. No offence, but you still manage to have “better” crazies than we do. (UKIP’s leader Farrage just rants, for example, along the same lines every time)
