England and the United States need to step up their game if they want to participate in the international arena of crazy politics.

Yeah, this pretty much is the perfect response to that
Does Palin not get that blatantly looking down on others doesn’t reflect well on you?

If you’re Conan the Barbarian addressing your barbarian peers, of course you’re going to think that starting every joke with “I was raping and pillaging the other night when…” is the way to go.

At least Conan had clearly defined goals, and a coherent worldview. So at least when he says terrible things they make some modicum of sense.
Mere pugalism!
Why, there’s always Australia where on one occasion, when Kevin Rudd skipped out on Question Time (to visit the site of a minor disaster), the opposition - unhappy with his absence - brought in a life-sized cardboard cutout of him, to much disorder.
No, really.
Australia also don’t have anything like the rules for Unparliamentary language the UK (or indeed, I believe, the US does), so they can get quite explicit. Not that watching UK politicians work round the rules isn’t funny, because it leads to phrases such as “the honourable Member is living proof that a pig’s bladder on a stick can be elected to Parliament”.
Palin is bad at humor because she’s a dimwit. It’s not that hard to skewer the left. Don’t any of you remember all the Clinton parodies on SNL? People have made a living as Clinton impersonators, and not by flattering the guy. William F. Buckley was a sharp guy with a good sense of humor. There are jokes to be had at the expense of liberals, but don’t expect Palin to be sharp enough to find them.
I think Clinton was parodied mostly for his behavior, not his policies. And now we have three comedy shows devoted to satire of the policies of the right, and only Palin trying to hit them back. That’s what I’m reacting to.

Oh sure, there are ways to make fun of liberals, but note the examples given. People, more specifically powerful people. Mocking Bill Clinton for being a lecherous flirt can be funny if done well. Mocking people with disabilities, mental health issues, poverty, lack of health care, and other supposed liberal focus’ just makes you a jerk. Palin’s ‘shtick’ was nakedly mocking people who have the audacity to be working a low paying job.
‘You work in fast food, so why should anyone care about you? Liberals shouldn’t care because they think fast food is evil, and I don’t care because I’m a prick. Just shut up about your miserable lives and get back to work you subhuman servant.’
It’s disgusting. A complete lack of empathy. So while I concede that comedy can be made to skewer liberals (the comic is an oversimplification, because duh) for it to work it needs to be focused up. Pointing the comedy at most liberal causes (most, but not all) just makes you look like a bully, because you kinda are.
Oh, man. People pay for this.
She sounds like she’s had a stroke.
I have to admit, stroke or intoxication was what crossed my mind when I saw it.

Speaking of intoxication…
Sarah Palin and her family were reportedly involved in a messy, drunken brawl last Saturday near Anchorage, Alaska.
Word is that Bristol has a particularly strong right hook, which she employed repeatedly, and it’s something to hear when Sarah screams, “Don’t you know who I am!” And it was particularly wonderful when someone in the crowd screamed back, “This isn’t some damned Hillbilly reality show!” No, it’s what happens when the former First Family of Alaska comes knocking. As people were leaving in a cab, Track was seen on the street, shirtless, flipping people off, with Sarah right behind him, and Todd somewhere in the foreground, tending to his bloody nose.
And that could have been our first family…
Sarah screaming “don’t you know who I am” at a random bar fight sort of sums up her personality for me. That desperate need to be seen as a celebrity.
If she wants her $10/month subscription channel to take off, she needs video of these drunken brawls. Think how many people would subscribe!

It’d be a gold mine for Jon Stewart, could run the video straight with no editing, and basically get 5 free minutes of air a night like that.
I’d watch.

I was a little worried, with Rob Ford out of the picture. But of course ol’ Sarah would never let us down!

Very strange there’s no video. Don’t they have smart phones up there?
At the risk of insulting a whole state, they don’t appear to have smart anything up there.
