I saw an interview with John Stewart once, and he said a big reason for the show’s success was that the writing staff was almost entirely small “L” libertarians who would gleefully skewer both major parties. Since I’m one myself, that explains why the show’s humor works so well for me. While the R’s are the worst current offenders, they don’t hesitate to take the D’s to the funny woodshed when warranted.

The same kind of goes for South Park.

Palin gave a speech to the Steve King Iowa cattle-call, and it was… not well received, even by Fox News.

To be fair, there are reports that her teleprompter failed and that she had to ad-lib a portion of her talk. And as we know, Palin does not do well if asked to think on her feet.

She learned a couple of lessons. 1) She’s a terrible impromptu speaker and 2) Always have hard copy of your speech in case the teleprompter fails.
