I hadn’t thought of the black angle on community organizer, interesting. God knows they’ve god code phrases down to an art, and it is a strange non-sequitir; how many people even know what the hell a community organizer is?

Isn’t Palin an ex-beauty queen? So where are all the pictures of her in bikini? Priorities people!

Last week while awaiting for a car part at the garage the mechanic and a sales rep thought it would be a good idea to strike up a conversation with me.

The first thing they said when their conversation turned to politics, “Palin is hot.”
Shortly thereafter, the mechanic – a reasonably well spoken and thoughtful guy, who shared that while his family in the past always voted a straight Republican ticket ) regardless of who was running, he no longer votes that way as he chooses who he thinks would make the best decisions – but this mechanic says “So my son asks me if Obama is elected, will he swear on the Bible or the Koran?”

How difficult is it, exactly, to become a Canadian citizen?

Here’s how!

If I cared enough to learn about your day job, this is where a retort mentioning it would go.

It’s fine for her to talk, but she shouldn’t lie.

Jeff could you please get rid of that image? I don’t know about where you work, but I sure as fuck didn’t like it showing up on my monitor here.

Agree with jeffd. Not to mention the fact that it’s fairly depressing that such an image even exists.

Not to mention the fact that it’s fairly depressing that such an image even exists.

That’s one of the tame ones.

Haha I like the new fill-in-the-blank posting style. Plus your posts are shorter. Net positives all the way around! You’re welcome (Flowers and Qt3).

I agree also with the new democratic strategy of painting the opposition as liars. I’m sure it involves a lot of nose-holding, but they’ll only have to do it for another two months.

I disagree with the strategy of focusing on Palin. Sure, the conservative base loves her. Do you think they love her because she’s a reformer, or that she was a good governor for Alaska? Of course not, just like the democrats aren’t all that excited about Obama’s record as a state senator or US senator. Solid, maybe, but certainly not anything you’d write a textbook about.

But tearing down Palin in the (liberal blog) headlines every day isn’t going to move people off McCain. Find more lies HE’S telling, and use her to demonstrate he’s so committed to refusing to tell the truth that he’ll only hire liars.

I agree. One of the things that the right loves best about Palin is that she pisses off the left.

Playboy is tame compared to Scat Champs Monthly, but I don’t have my subscription to either delivered to my office.

Scat Champs Monthly

Some of their stuff is actually quite tasteful.

Meh, I mainly find their interviews to be among the most insightful in the industry.

I just have to bite on this and I apologize to the masses for doing so.

There are pretty compelling reasons why the attack didn’t happen during the Clinton presidency. The most critical of which is that a terrorist attack of that scale combined with the international respect and goodwill that the Clinton administration garnered would have had the international community bending over backwards to help in ANY way they can.

A Clinton response to that disaster would have used military resources for VERY surgical strikes against the actual perpatrators of the act, all the while running with the massive wave of international goodwill. They couldn’t afford to attack during the Clinton administration because the attack would give the US enormous amounts of power. This wouldn’t even begin to balance out the damage caused by the attack in terms of their political priorities.

They didn’t attack during the Clinton presidency because it made no sense to do so. They DID attack during the second Bush dynasty because Bush could be relied upon to uselessly flex military muscle and scaremonger for poll points. This not only allowed the terrorists to strike with impunity, but also allowed them to trigger an economic collapse all the while watching the US international cred circle the drain.

Sorry, I’m a Democrat and I think this is just nuts.

They attacked as soon as they had the capability to do so. Was that Bush’s fault? Maybe, but the ground work for the attack was being laid during Clinton.

The fundamental question is would Clinton have ignored the memo?

Beyond that you can go read Richard Clarke. It’s not guaranteed they would have stopped it, but this was something that Clinton cared about and Bush didn’t.

[li]This is nuts.[/li][li]The attack planning started before Bush even won the Republican nomination, much less the presidency[/li][li]How did W. Bush lose the complete respect of the international community in 9 months?[/li][li]Aren’t you forgetting the earlier attack aimed at destroying the World Trade Center that occurred in the Clinton Administration? Is your point that the terrorists just kinda/sorta tried to blow up the tower then but their hearts weren’t in it b/c they were scared of upsetting the rest of the world?[/li][li]I’m not sure how your point squares with the fact that over the timeframe of the Clinton Adminstration, Islamic terrorists INCREASED the level of violence at the US. From the USS Cole to the Embassy bombings, there was a more concentrated effort to directly attack the US.[/li][*]I could go on but I refer to #1.[/ol]

[/li]
Um, by being a ridiculous imbecile?

The USS Cole attack happened at the very end of the Clinton administration.

Also, the Kosovo War happened during the Clinton administration. Clinton wasn’t averse to military intervention.

Still, trying to pin Bin Laden’s actions on a specific administration is pretty US-centric. The country was completely unprepared for a terror attack that used airliners as air-to-ground missiles. That unpreparedness was completely bi-partisan.
