Bush was focused almost entirely on US domestic issues until 9/11, rarely traveling abroad till the summer. The US economy was heading into a recession and bush was attempting to push a large tax cut package through.
You are using projecting hindsight on the rather ludicrous contention that the international community in 8 short months turned their back on Bush. Anyway, the outpouring of support of 9/11 simply contradicts the idea that the international community wouldn’t strongly support the US after a terrorist attack.
This is true. It’s a well known fact that if an act of war occurs at the end of your administration, then you can completely ignore it and everyone will forget it happened.
No, son, I’m remembering my reaction to everything he did from the time he announced his candidacy up until 9/11. He was a fucking embarrassment from day one of his ridiculous presidency, if not before.
So, once he was elected, everyone lost respect for us, instantly?

I believe that you will find that most polls don’t show the support for the US falling of a cliff until the Iraq invasion, which was well after the election of George W. Bush.
I can’t believe folks are really trying to argue that world opinion of the US changed so dramatically in the 9 months of Bush being in office.
And of course that terrorists immediately starting planning/executing 9/11 in that timeframe, which is obviously false.
Haha, “son.” That’s great. I can almost see your sideways baseball cap from here.
What was so embarassing from January to September of 2001? Tax cuts? If anything, he was scaling back American empiricism, avowing not to engage in “nation building.” What was the rest of the world so allegedly disgusted with?

Um, I don’t think that word (empiricism) means what you think it means.
Although actually, in its rejection of inconvenient science, I guess you’re right, Bush Jr. has been cutting back on American empiricism.
And BTW, my real name is José.

Unlike Bush, Clinton didn’t think declaring war on a concept was particularly helpful.
But yes, the world wasn’t particularly moved by the US electing Bush one way or the other, and 9/11 engendered some of the strongest global support for America in history. It wasn’t until 2 years later when the US invaded Iraq that that support evaporated.
Sorry, I meant imperialism.
Donde esta la cucina?
It seems like people keep forgetting the terrorists tried to blow up the WTC on 1993 but failed.

Truer words have never been spoken.
The longest vacation in the history of the presidency? Nah that couldn’t be it.
Jason Bourne, aka Matt Damon, doesn’t speak highly of Gov. Palin in a recent interview, comparing her to “a really bad Disney movie”:
"You do the actuary tables, there’s a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn’t survive his first term, and it’ll be President Palin. It’s like a really bad Disney movie, "The Hockey Mom.’ Oh, I’m just a hockey mom from Alaska, and she’s president. “She’s facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It’s absurd.”
Yeah, I can see how that would really piss off the rest of the world. I stand corrected.
Well, goddamn it, that does it. I’m not voting for McCain now. Does Matt have a recommendation for who I should vote for?
Yes. He recommends Sarah Silverman because she’s a good fuck.
Looks like Hurricane Sarah may be losing steam as it heads out from the devastation of St. Paul

I’m not the rest of the world but I was prettttty pissed that bush stole the election!!!
Yep. Operation Restore Hope was quickly forgotten about once Clinton took office.
