Wait, your schools were still open??? Is this a situation where most districts had already done so but there was no state order, or have schools actually been in session up until now? Or were they already closed, this just extended the duration?

Sorry, for someone not up to speed on the situation there I wasn’t sure how to read that.

I’m chatting up a nurse here in NYC on a dating app, she sent me a picture of herself wearing a lovely mask that appeared to have been made from a lace tablecloth. Said her friend’s mom made it for her. Funny, but a bit sad.

She already recovered from COVID so she doesn’t really need it, but the rule is everybody wears a mask.

I assume they were in a state of “closed for now, we’ll see”?

Now they’re just saying “yeah, it’s not happening, plan accordingly”.

Yep, @ShivaX had it right. Schools have been closed, but up until today they’ve been planning to re-open in mid-April. Last week when I went to the grocery store, I drove right by a couple that have “see you April 13” on a sign outside. So Governor Whitmer’s announcement was the Michigan government bowing to the inevitable and killing that idea.

Now is not the time to bang, bro.

Oh thank goodness. Given how hard Michigan is getting hit I would have been horrified if schools were still in session.

Per NYC Health, just no kissing or rimming.

Wayyyyyellll, if she recovered over a week ago, PCR tested negative after recovery, and is willing to chance coming to the apartment of a guy she’s never met on the first meet…

Hey babe, you up for a little social closening?

Healthcare workers are being overworked so badly, and put at such risk, in such strenuous heartwrenching situations, it is my moral duty to help out any way I possibly can.

While technically true, I’m a bit annoyed at how this plays in the news. (Not your fault, @KevinC , you just happened to trigger a pet peeve here.)

Yes, Michigan has a ton of cases, but they’re almost all in Detroit. The rest of the state is in as good a shape as any other place in the country. I get my parents messaging me, worried that I’m in the middle of a hot zone, when in reality I’m in no more danger than they are in rural Missouri. Probably less, since I have a lot more hospital capacity nearby than they do. We’re still being cautious and careful here in West Michigan the same as everyone else, but there’s no need for special concern.

I suppose folks like @Dave_Perkins in New York state probably get similar issues, given how much NYC is in the news. Or maybe not, people tend to realize NYC is its own world.

NYC is the world, everything else is just upstate.

ok

jesus christ

As long as unprotected anal is still OK, it’s NBD.

Some of us still have a chance to get laid, Adam.

Close your eyes and think of America.

Turns out that while she almost certainly had COVID the hospital never actually tested her, so I’m going to miss out on my opportunity to come to the aid of one brave healthcare worker in NYC.

That’s a shame, maybe you could post an add on Craigslist offering your services?
