Hey, hey now! Some of us live upstate too you know!
That was really interesting, although a bit too technical even for an hypochondriac such as me! That threader thing also made it very easy to read. I hope we grasp eventually if and how this disease might be implied with the nervous system.
Conflicting signals…

This is the 3rd or 4th COVID-19 police abuse story I’ve hear out of India.
Bro I had a tinder hookup all set and I aborted last minute cuz of the virus. Hardest thing I ever did.
You’ll do the right thing! She’ll be there when this is over.
My Dad is now in the “presumed positive” category. He collapsed early this morning and a squad was called. Blood oxygen dipping down to 92, which isn’t great but survivable. He has a heart condition and is in his 70’s which makes me quite worried. The whole not-testing bit is rather obnoxious as well, but I’ll save that for the P&R thread.
I’m sorry, man. Positive thoughts to your father and family.
Any idea how he was infected?
Hard to know for sure; he had a low-grade fever with aches and pains for about a week, with a mild cough at the onset which faded. Fever seemed to break yesterday, but roared back at 102 (on Tylenol) this morning. Not sure where he picked it up, but he’s in a retirement village and they’ve been fairly well isolated since the beginning because of it, so if I had to guess it was during a supply run. My nephew also was mildly ill for a couple weeks earlier on and was a presumed positive (no sense of smell, sore throat, low grade fever, chills, aches, but no cough). While they didn’t see each other recently, it’s possible someone else they know did and was an asymptomatic carrier.
That’s the way it usually goes, about a week of symptomatic illness before you either recover or need more support at a hospital. Hope all works out well for him.

Hope he pulls through! Please keep us updated.
Hmmm… well, not sure what to say. I assume you are familiar with firearms, you just don’t happen to own one now? I’m not a big proponent of the “I don’t like guns” until there’s a social disruption and then everyone thinks a gun is the answer. I don’t know your situation so please don’t take this wrong.
Well, as you know the trucking industry has been struggling with a chronic commercial driver shortage for years. So this virus situation isn’t really the catalyst for enhanced recruiting (imo). I get 2~5 phone calls a week from truck companies, god knows how many emails. I drove for 4 years and was the manager of the drivers at my last job with Airgas. I retired Dec 13, and let me tell you-- it was really hard to get adjusted to not working for the first 3 months. That’s really my only hesitation to going back to work. Psychologically I have kinda gotten over the hump, not sure I want to switch gears and start driving again.
I guess the determining factor will be the overall situation. If we start having food and supply shortages due to driver shortfall I will go back behind the wheel. I just need to know it’s urgent.
Hi Tom, just to be completely clear, reflecting back on the conversation with the recruiter, I don’t remember what he said exactly. He may have said “Wuhan flu” or “Chinese flu” or “flu epidemic” or “this flu thing”, I can’t really say what exact terms he used. It could have been me inserting “Wuhan flu” as the term when I posted. Like everyone, I have consumed a lot of news and discussions so who knows.
I 100% agree with you that there are a lot of people (Trump & supporters) who are using the term with intentional malice and to deflect blame, oh yes, that’s as clear to me as the blue sky. Without getting too political in this thread, yes, you are correct - the President dropped the ball on this and a lot of his supporters are lockstep in synch with him. Trump had an opportunity to be a real leader and get serious and work to protect the nation. He blew it. If there’s a thread where you would like to continue this I would be happy to join you.
One other note: being interested in infectious disease and pandemics before this situation began, I started a thread on this in Subsim on Jan 23 long before the WHO named this COVID-19 and I titled the thread Wuhan virus 2020 I hope you will accept that in good faith: I had no intention of using that term with malice or bad intent.

Here’s a round up of famous people who we’ve lost to the coronavirus
I’m really sorry. My dad (70s) was really ill this winter with some lung infection thing, and it was scary. Hoping for the best for you and him.
I appreciate the warm wishes, everyone. I was just able to talk with him via Skype. Apparently his oxygen levels are now “up to” 92. At least he’s a little hungry, and he wanted to sing Happy Birthday to me (yeah, hell of a birthday). He made the joke that his voice was so bad normally that nobody could tell the difference.
Happy Birthday @Dan_Theman!
And here I was thinking cat puke was going to be my only “gift,” lol.
it is funny, but I seem to get that gift every day, regardless of birthday or not.
