I appreciate the warm wishes, everyone. I was just able to talk with him via Skype. Apparently his oxygen levels are now “up to” 92. At least he’s a little hungry, and he wanted to sing Happy Birthday to me (yeah, hell of a birthday). He made the joke that his voice was so bad normally that nobody could tell the difference.

All the best, man. Sorry you and the family have to go through this experience and hope it continues to trend positively.

This video came to me via my brother, via his friend who works with this doctor. It’s a week or so old but I think still valid. He’s a doctor at Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan, and he made this as a way to address his extended family who understandably were looking to him for advice…so he put it out as a group chat. I hope that a week later he’s still so relatively optimistic…

Depends on the circumstances, but it is a thing that can happen.

A while back a guy in my home town died to it. Basically he was drunk off his ass, drove home, parked in a pile of leaves, passed out, leaves caught fire, car caught fire, he caught fire.

I expect insurance will go over it with a fine-toothed comb though, because it is really rare. But modern cars still have very hot things on them at the end of the day.

With that many vehicles close together the possible hotspot would likely be on the body of another vehicle though.

If the ground vegetation those cars are parked on is the same as in the foreground of the shot, it’s more likely hot exhaust or the like started a fire in the ground cover which spread to a car.
