O.k., apologies if I steered the discussion in this forum into topics you’d prefer discussed elsewhere - I have zero interest in politics on this topic, and anything relating to American politics just seems like it creates a den of hate and crazy, and it seemed like we were getting redundant anyway, so I’ll let others pick up the baton if interested.
Not sure how my discussion of Vietnam could in any way be construed as political, while the post I replied to was not, but maybe that was just caught in the net or is viewed with a different lens (can’t remember what exactly was in that post, so maybe there was other stuff in there that prompted that cull). Appreciate you also taking out all the references to political leaders though, so probably a net win.
Not really sure now if this would also be caught, but apparently there are some promising treatment results, which caused a stock market boom today: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/16/sp-500-etf-jumps-2percent-after-hours-on-report-gilead-drug-showing-effectiveness-treating-coronavirus.html
I didn’t mean to sound like I was calling anyone out. The conversation evolved naturally, but it turned into one that has a better fit where we were already discussing the same topic (evidence or lack thereof about the origins of the virus). So I just cast a wide net and heaved all the posts into that thread and briefly explained why it was a better fit there.
As for getting political, I don’t want people to have to walk on eggshells. Short of restricting the conversation to scientific data (there’s a thread for that, which I see now is in P&R for some reason), the pandemic is partly a political discussion given that various government responses have been integral to its spread and containment. Also, the politics and religion subforum doesn’t exist to keep politics and religion out of other discussions. It exists to help organize the discussions.

I got a notification not for being mentioned but simply for having a thread I started be mentioned. That’s nifty!
The coronavirus thread Tom linked to isn’t restricted to science talk only, it’s the links that are restricted to credible science and data. The talk surrounding those links is still quite P (but not very R) and that’s cool with me.
Ah, thanks for clarifying. Whatever the case, it’s by far the brainiest thread on Quarter to Three. You guys are sciencing the shit out of the coronavirus over there.
