Scariest scifi tv bad guy

I’ve been picking up the Stargate SG-1 DVDs recently. They’ve got the first 4 seasons available in the US, and I gather more in Europe. I started thinking about the various sci-fi shows and their main villian. Here’s my list

Stargate - Goa’uld
Star Trek- Borg, Dominion, Species 8472, Suliban…
Babylon 5 - Shadows, Drakh
X-Files - inconsistent aliens
Farscape - Peacekeepers, Scarrans
Andromeda aka Hercules in Space – Magog? stopped watching it though
Space: Above and Beyond - those alien things
eEarth: Final Conflict – didn’t watch it

I’m going to say that personally, the Goa’uld are the scariest bad guys in here to me. Not only are they snake like things, they invade your brain, pretend they’re gods and then keep you in a waking hell as they do horrible things with your body. I mean, thats just cruel.

In comparison, the Borg may take your body and keep you in a waking hell as they do horrible things with your body, but at least they’re not snakes.

Also, Stargate, unlike, say, Star Trek, hasn’t completely neutered the big bad guys. The Borg in Star Trek started off all ominous and scary, and ended up as defeatable by a person with a swiss army knife. The fleshing out of the Borg (err… they have a Queen! and Hugh!) resulted in a rather lame sort of enemy.

So, I’m wondering – what do you folks think the scariest, on a “shit, if these guys were real, I’d be pissing my pants if they showed up for lunch” scale?

I thought about making this a poll, but then I realized that people would start bringing in stuff I don’t know about, and everyone would vote the “dumbass, what about xyz bad guys…”

I think Quarter to Three has finally become too geeky for… even… me. And I’m the guy who once argued that a Y-Wing could beat an X-Wing in XvT.

Since I’m here… I’m going to go with Sasquatch from The Six Million Dollar Man.

Nothing beats The Prisoner’s Rover, the Weather Balloon of the Damned. Brrrr.

What? No Power Rangers villains? This thread is teh suxxors.

Please feel free to contribute your own indepth knowledge of the Power Rangers.

The Replicators in Stargate were interesting - relentlessly consuming everything in their path like a virus.

Well, let’s see. There’s, um, WitchiePoo and, uh…Megatron. And Skeletor. Can’t forget Skeletor.

I thought Witchiepoo was H.R. Puff’n’Stuff.

Of course she was. My previous post was supposed to be humorous. Obviously, it failed.

I laughed Dave.
Can I nominate Garth Knight from Knight Rider? He’s the scariest. He has a robot car with a deeper voice than KITT and Garth is Michael’s evil twin. Yes…

He’s Hasselhoff with a goatee!

The Goa’uld are nothing compared with the replicators, or replicants, or deckards, or whatever they call them. Those machine things that eat anything and absorb the technology.

Apophis and Hathor were pretty sweet though, and some of the ‘lesser’ goa’ulds like Seth as well. I don’t really like the direction they went with Anubis though.

What about the Daleks? They couldn’t move very fast but they could curl your tweed like crazy!

Thanks for laughing, Andrew. :)

As for Knight Rider: wow. I never watched a single episode of that show as a kid (even then, it triggered my suck-o-meter), so I was blissfully ignorant of Garth until today. I’m so glad.

To take a more serious approach to this thread’s topic for a moment, I think the reason no one is chiming in with their “list of scary SF TV villains” is that there really aren’t any. TV generally sanitizes its bad guys to the point that they aren’t bad any more.

My top 2 picks have already been mentioned. I thought the first 3 Borg episodes were excellent, but then they fell right off a cliff. The X-files also introduced some pretty decent villains. My pick for scariest is the demonic substitute teacher that slaughters the teachers who broke a pact with it one by one. The fact that Scully and Mulder are completely powerless to stop it–the demon finishes its business and returns to hell–make it especially creepy.

You forgot to mention how she gets back to hell - She SLITHERS THERE, because she’s a fucking SNAKE.

I think that demonic, Satan-spawned snakes are far more scary that alien mind-control snakes, but that’s me.

Wow, I’ve never seen this episode. Sounds really cool. This show did some really good one-shot storylines. But the overall story arc of conspiracy and aliens sucked nuts. But I think I have said this before here…

What season of X-Files was that?

2 or 3, I think. I know it was fairly early in the run of the series.

It was good until the entire plot twisted unto itself so many times that it was no longer even identifiable as a plot anymore.

I was a devout viewer until the absurd Mulder abduction at the end of the 7th season or whatever it was. After Doggett joined the cast, and Scully became the “believer” of the two, the show got too damned ridiculous and lost the very things which made it charming. It didn’t help they’d basically ran through every good occult/alien plot and had to begin repeating concepts.

Jose Chung’s From Outer Space, by the way, is the best episode EVAR.

It was:

That woman was just freaky.
