Is it possible that the world might operate on values beyond just pure power?

What’s even worse is that he was already an extremely partisan pick, now he’s probably completely off the deep end. I just can’t see him as anything but an angry, completely partisan judge now.

And that is so incredibly horrific for the concept of justice in the highest court. Pwn the libs will now be the official law of the land.

I went to a Jesuit high school myself, and I hadn’t thought about that magazine in forever. It was always a bit on the Left for a Catholic magazine (as the Jesuits have often been dissenting voices in the Church given their intellectual bent). Good on them.

More on my comment above:

Yeah, I was listening then, and nearly yelled out loud “DUDE, you’re the guy being questioned, not her!” The chutzpah on this guy. And notice he didn’t show that lack of respect to any of the male senators. How DARE a woman question him, was the attitude.

Somebody get Ben Garrison on the line, he could probably fix this up into something truly special.

Who’s the sad-looking mousy brunette behind him on his right?

I believe that is Mrs. Kavanaugh.

Well, Clarence Thomas is the first place anybody should look, for obvious reasons.

I’m wondering why no one asked him how the Clintons coerced Dr. Ford and the other women into making allegations about him. The US Senate is going to vote for Fox News for a Supreme Court justice.

I do hope if/when Democrats regain control they investigate this supremely unqualified individual to the rafters, Benghazi style. Even if the Senate never convicts him, just force him to testify over and over again. Maybe they can bring him some beer.

Edit: From Benjamin Wittes, who had supported Kavanaugh’s nomination (and who briefly left Twitter because of it.)

One last thought.
Kavanaugh’s ascension to the Supreme Court by a shameless and profoundly corrupt political party is deeply distressing. This is what it feels like when the bad guys win. And for any lurker out there wanting to scream about how Democrats disgraced themselves, don’t be a coward and post. Just know that your positions are indefensible.

I felt that way too, but I think that although the GOP won the battle, they are going to lose the war. Her courage to come forward is not in vain. Read the responses to this; women are going to fight back.

What worries me is how we treated Brett Kavanaugh through this process. What other white men are going to come forward and seek a position on the Supreme Court now?

I honestly think if there are any self-identified Republicans (i.e. Trump/Kavanaugh supporters) reading this forum, they’re too ashamed to post.

The ones that do are craven. The ones that don’t are angry little simpletons.

Imagine if 10 days before the election, the director of the FBI–in contravention of department policy–announced that he was re-opening a closed investigation because of some emails found on the computer of one of Clinton’s aide’s husband…

FYI, in the Kavanaugh photo that’s making the rounds, the women sitting behind him are all Kavanaugh supporters and family, and they are expressing dismay on his behalf (the context is lost in the photo still, more apparent in video) and in support of him. They’re doing the facial expression equivalent of the outrage/tears thing he made a big part of his testimony.

Sure, but it is still a pretty good indicator of the facial expressions of Democrat and Independent women around the country yesterday during the hearings. Sometimes the photos that capture the zeitgeist are best not examined too closely.

I’m stunned. (This is sarcasm.)
