Kavanaugh was never not going to get the nomination. Republicans aren’t going to convict him and remove him because of shit he wrote on a calendar in 1982, and we’re wrong to think this is so, because we’re using modern standard the Republicans don’t share, and then making them apply retroactively.

And this is because they don’t give a shit about things that are not legally actionable. And nothing Ford said was legally actionable.

That’s the mistake we made with Trump, and the mistake we made here. This stuff is way past the statute of limitations.

And this sucks, because progressives are living in a moment where they want to help and listen to women and understand the sociological pressures and reasons women didn’t and still don’t come forward. But the horrifying truth is that all that stuff in the context of #metoo only matters because companies’ bottom lines are threatened - that the power do fix things is essentially consumer power, not political power.

Republicans don’t give a shit what you think, whether you “cancel” them, whether they’re shown to be assholes. Can you arrest them is all they care about. And you can’t arrest them for things that happened 35 years ago. You should have done something then, is what they’re going to say.

We should just remember this going forward and not pin our hopes on decency to win.

Funny how they refused to allow any evidence from coming forward, ignored the other two allegations, refused to call any witnesses.
