If the Dems walk out, are there quorum issues?
For a floor vote, the quorum is 51, which would presumably be met by Republicans voting to confirm.

In fairness to Graham, it really is an incredibly unethical sham, so that much was true.

Iām sure he didnāt mean it the way youāve interpreted it. :)
Weāre well on our way back to 1950 as the last election intended us to be. Iām so disgusted today.

Well, I guess the GOP make it very clear that the US now has only two chances, if it is to avoid becoming another faux-Democracy like Turkey or Hungary. And you probably need a full house - Democratic control of Congress in order to limit the damage caused by Trump, and complete control in 2020 to have a chance to undo the damage (+ a President and Senators conscious of the dangers).
If either fail, then I doubt youāll have many more chances, because the GOP have shown themselves perfectly willing to undermine democracy in the pursuit of wealth and power.

Feeling pretty down today too, another gut punch like the presidential election. I actually wrote to my (any) senator for the first time, Lindsey Graham. I am completely disgusted by him, was McCain the only thing holding him back from being this terrible all the time?

OK, Iām done. Itās not good for my mental health to watch or read anymore. Time to buckle down and focus on work/family for a few days.
Graham has become quite the little toady. He has no conscience.
And now Flake, that guy who wants us to think he stood up to Trump, announced he will vote for Kavanaugh. Another Republican toady.

Completely redundant in this day.

Iām so angry about this that itās spilling over into my work. Like others said last night, Iām someone who tries not to carry anger but I just canāt get away from it today. Iām enraged. As far as im concerned this makes them all party to the crime after the fact. They are covering it up and killing the full investigation that it warrants.

Yeah, I kind of wish I hadnāt watched clips of Brett K.'s testimony yesterday. I was resigned to having a conservative court after Nov 2016. Elections have consequences. And I was even resigned to the accusations not making a difference. Ok, so the guy might or might not be skeevy, that probably wonāt make him any worse than Thomas on the court.
But seeing him make such naked attacks on democrats, I donāt think Iāve ever seen that before. Watching him attack the Senator who was asking about the yearbook comments. How DARE you ruin this womanās good name? Leave her out of this. How dare you. Oh my god, it bothers me so much that this guy is going to end up on the Supreme Court. i wish it had been any other conservative justice. Or even the version of Brett K. that we saw last week, the boring one who was avoiding answering questions like every other Supreme Court nominee.
Sigh. I guess I need to learn how to spell his last name since heās going to be a Supreme Court Justice for the rest of my life. I just need to avoid seeing any more of his testimony from yesterday for the good of my own health and well being.
Yeah, I too am finding it hard to focus on work due to all of this. hugs

You and me both, brother. Like I mentioned a little upthread, I had to leave the room when my SO was watching the hearings yesterday. I just couldnāt take it anymore. It doesnāt help that this is sitting on top of the past two years of disgusting and disturbing behavior from the GOP.
My only hope is that if Iām feeling this enraged as a male who has never had to deal with sexual assault in any way, it will bring women out en masse to vote these fuckers out. I sincerely feel like we only have one real shot at righting this ship and it happens in a little over a month.
That was the thing for me as well. I mean, Gorsuch is a slimeball too, but he at least presented the veneer of impartiality. This is the first time Iāve seen a judge openly declare heās a partisan agent. I shouldnāt really be surprised - Republicans took the mask off years ago - but I guess I still maintained some belief that the court was at least marginally separate from it.

Same as you and @Rightbug Apoplectic anger.
Feels like I need to do something more than just contribute money to campaigns this time. I donāt know what that could be though, thereās no way I can knock on doors and talk to a trump supporter. That wouldnāt end well.
Donnelly ā vulnerable Democratic Senator in Indiana ā is a NO on Kavanaugh.

Was he part of the Senators who met yesterday who said they were all going to vote the same?
