Yes, and they never said that, a Red State blog said that, quoting a source.

(FWIW, a spokesperson for Manchin also has denied that the West Virginia Senator has made up his mind yet, despite the report that he was a yes.)

He and Flake were both part of that group.

Thanks

This is what the Dreyfus Affair must have felt like, with both sides of a deep social divide projecting their emotions onto one man.

I assume the plan is to give either Murkowski or Collins cover for a no vote. Everyone else votes yes.

I’m heard when you go knocking on doors they send you to people that are already decided in favor of what you are, it’s just to make sure they go out to vote. Could be wrong though

FWIW, Manchin is probably safer in West Virginia than Donnelly is in Indiana.

Heitkamp – the other non-declared Dem senator – is the most vulnerable of the group.

Seriously, any Democratic senator who votes for this guy should just go ahead and join the GOP.

Forget the allegations for the moment (though any of them should be deeply disqualifying), This is a supreme court nominee who has made clear - in no uncertain terms - that he is a partisan agent, and believes that the POTUS is above the law. That is what Trump wants, it is the only reason why anyone would vote for Kavanaugh (rather than find someone less controversial with equally good conservative bonafides), and that is what the GOP is now voting to confirm.

Deleted that post about Mitchell, can’t find the source link.

Thank goodness I have the day off to attend a local Oktoberfest with a friend. Unfortunately he’s a Republican but not a Trumppalo. Still, I’m not going to talk politics at all.

Add me to the list of “so angry I can’t get shit done today”. I want to donate money I can’t afford to the opponents of everyone who votes for this guy (R or D), then go knock on doors and just scream at people who might vote for them.

Not being flippant, but what is the difference?

By that I mean the Republican Party seems wholly divorced from any sort of conservative principles and just seems to be the party of Trump knob-polishers.

Alas the Wapo is reporting that Flake is a yes.

Yes, much discussion of that upthread.

His family is older California money so being Republican is just part of his identity. Also to top it off he turned 14 the year “Saint Ronald Reagan” was elected President.

I’ve known him since 1989 and we’ve been friends since and even housemates back in the 90’s. We’ve argued politics till we’re blue in the face. He really is a conservative because he believes that our current order is fundamentally just. I don’t think it ever was and know it’s getting less just by the year.

Chris Coons (D-DE) was walking into the Senate Judiciary hearing when he was told that Flake was a “Yes”. He said “Oh fuck.” Then got choked up and walked away into the room.

This is pretty much exactly my view as well, not that Mr. Mulvihill and I have talked about it or anything.

Meh - Trump will just blame all losses on Chinese hackers and either refuse to seat the winners or declare the House illegitimate and call for new elections or something

edit: that said, the more places where the Democrat wins, the harder it will be to pull something like this off

Thankfully, I don’t think there is any physical mechanism by which Trump could impact who gets to sit in the Capitol, unless he deployed the Army or something.
