His slogan when first running “What do you call a Congressman that has been in Washington for 18 years? You call them home.” (18 years is me pulling a # out of nowhere as I don’t remember the specific amount.)

What is this about? If that is the case why doesn’t Sasse say he is a no?

Come on Ben

McConnell files for cloture vote on Friday, full confirmation vote on Saturday.

All senators will get a copy of the FBI report tomorrow. Presumably, McConnell has seen it, and in the limited capacity the FBI was allowed to research, there’s nothing damning in it.

I’ve been reading there is 1 copy in a scif. If they changed that I guess they know it contains nothing that will hurt Kavanaugh.

Sasse is setting this up to be either his finest or most pathetic hour.

Living in Nebraska has taught me that Nebraska is never in the news for good reasons.

He stares wistfully at the ivy-strung trellis on the patio, chin in one hand, steam wafting off the fresh cup of coffee in the other.

“I wonder which it will be?”

I wonder if anyone will give him any credit if he actually does vote no.

Or are we going to just minimize it and say, “well obviously he should have voted no. He doesn’t get credit for doing the obviously right thing. He’s still evil.”

Narrator: He won’t.

But if he does?

Nevermind this Kavanaugh nonsense, I want to hear more about how Judge Bork wasn’t really so bad!

The he gets to not have the indelible negative credit of putting Trump ahead of the integrity of the US Senate

On some level, if someone does good, and you never want to give them praise for it because of other things they do… Then there’s no reason for them ever to try and please you, because they can’t.

It will push them to instead try and please other folks, and you end you with people like the freedom caucus.

What do you mean by giving them credit exactly? I mean, I still silently thank John McCain, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski and all the democratic Senators who voted against the ACA Repeal every single time I pay my low monthly bill, or every month when I get my medicine and only pay a fraction of what I used to pay before the ACA.

Is that credit enough?

Or by giving credit do you mean something more? Like I should go fundraise for those three? Or fundraise for the 48 democratic senators who also voted the same way?

I’ll give praise to anyone who votes no on this jerk, for doing that, particularly if they’re Republicans in danger of being primaried.

But it looks like Mitch McConnell (curses be upon his name) is pretty sure he has the votes and we’re getting a hyperpartisan high functioning alcoholic entitled frat boy sex offender as our next Justice.

Edit: I forgot casual perjurer.

No, that’s all I mean.

Maybe what’s frightening is when you have large, professional organizations, like the ABA or these professors, not to mention significant majorities in the population, want another choice… and nothing matters.

Damn straight. Of course, if this new majority on the Court starts making patently bullshit 5-4 rulings, maybe people start telling the Court, “Yeah, you and what army?”

I am not sure what it looks like if half the country considers the SC to be partisan and illegitimate. But we may find out very soon.

Pack that sucka.
