Best Hamlet-specific response I have seen:

That’s beautiful.

It’s Utah, he’s need something more enticing.

Tell them he’s got an original set of Joseph Smith plates or something.

Flake keeps flipping his coin, but it just keeps coming up Kavanaugh. What’s that, the 50th time in a row?

Yes. And that’s the point. He can confirm and say he thought about it, etc.

If I throw in some green Jello with carrot chunks and a vat of fry sauce, I think we’ve got ourselves a workable plan.

For those who, like me, draw dark sustenance from unfiltered Charlie Pierce dudgeon:

This video captures perfectly where we are as a nation at this moment in history. It shows with startling clarity the end result of civic disengagement and democratic apathy. It shows without question that we have allowed our republic to fall into the hands of a sociopath whose feeling for his fellow human beings can be measured against a poker chip. It shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that the better angels of our nation have been sold out to anger, and greed, and stone hatred. It shows precisely the depths to which our fellow citizens will follow this bag of old and rancid sins. Some of those citizens know better. Some of them don’t. All of them are dangerous blockheads.

And comes now this hopeless, vicious buffoon, and the audience of equally hopeless and vicious buffoons who laughed and cheered when he made sport of a woman whose lasting memory of the trauma she suffered is the laughter of the perpetrators. Now he comes, a man swathed in scandal, with no interest beyond what he can put in his pocket and what he can put over on a universe of suckers, and he does something like this while occupying an office that we gave him, and while endowed with a public trust that he dishonors every day he wakes up in the White House.

Watch him make fun of the woman again. Watch how a republic dies in the empty eyes of an empty man who feels nothing but his own imaginary greatness, and who cannot find in himself the decency simply to shut the fuck up even when it is in his best interest to do so. Presidents don’t have to be heroes to be good presidents. They just have to realize that their humanity is our common humanity, and that their political commonwealth is our political commonwealth, too.

Watch him again, behind the seal of the President of the United States. Isn’t he a funny man? Isn’t what happened to that lady hilarious? Watch the assembled morons cheer. This is the only story now.

Rare form, even for Pierce.

I read somewhere just now that John Paul Stevens, 98, a retired Supreme Court Justice, has said Kavanaugh should not be on the Court:

Here it is:

That and $2.00 will get you a cup of coffee, but nice to read anyway, I suppose.

Sadly, you’re almost certainly right. If the Rs won’t listen to the ABA why would they listen to a former SC Justice (or even 2, if we could get a similar statement from O’Connor)?

Sigh, that and every ā€œbombshell storyā€ that seems to come out every other day.

I take comfort in knowing that 5 million years hence, Cockroach Herodotus will derive much amusement from reading all the memes.

If I wasn’t on my phone I’d insert the ā€œgot that referenceā€ meme.

Kavanaugh lied about when he learned about the Ramirez story, while under oath. That should be enough.

Ahhh, but you forget that in 2018, nothing matters anymore (other than tribal loyalty to the Republican party, that is)!

I’m just saying that it’s all we need to be saying in response to the GOP senators saying that the report told us nothing new.

Who cares about the report? He lied under oath.

We never have had a president* so completely deserving of scorn and yet so small in the office that it almost seems a waste of time and energy to summon up the requisite contempt.

That’s where I’m at these days. Trying not to waste energy wallowing in contempt. I take heart in the fact that, one way or another, he won’t be around that much longer.

I hear ya, man. I’m just being snarky in my bitterness!

Sorry, I knew that too. :)

I just think the Dems should focus on the lies under oath.
