I’m naive and not informed enough because I’m totally missing the widely held impression that this is anti-Semitic. Can someone please explain?

Generally, a lot of the conspiracy theories held about how Soros is behind everything are pushed by anti-semites, with Soros being part of the global JEW CONSPIRACY!

Certainly betraying my German heritage.

Google “Soros antisemitism” and it explains itself. Or here’s a quick summary:

Why is it always Soros who is held out as the mastermind? Why not Warren Buffett or Bill Gates, who are also extremely rich and give handsomely to progressive causes? What is it about Soros that makes him a lightning rod for right-wing conspiracy theories?

Spoiler alert: Soros is Jewish.

Even if Trump chokes on a drumstick tomorrow, this kind of thing will be the lasting legacy he’ll leave behind. He’s mainstreamed the conspiracies, paranoia, and dehumanization of anyone to the left of fascists, basically.

Even if you like your tax cuts or whatever else, what the fuck, people? For better or worse, the President leads a country of over 300 million people, many of whom disagree vehemently with each other. A crucial part of that position is trying to find ways to dampen the hostilities between factions and try to bring Americans together. Fuck him and fuck every last asshole that still supports him.

I’ve been talking so much shit about Trump and doing it for free. I wish Soros would cut me a check.

Seems like Collins is playing her normal game. She will vote for cloture while claiming she hasn’t decided how to vote on confirmation. Press conference at 3 today to announce her final decision.

Yeah, this is my surprise face.

Here’s Turtle Man painting it as a great ideological struggle, us v. them.

It’s impossible to imagine her voting yes on cloture and no on confirmation.

Kavanaugh will be seated on the SCOTUS bench.

Has Collins confirmed she’s voting for cloture?

I agree, but some people are arguing that she’s done that before, e.g on ACA repeal and on the DeVos nomination.

It’s being widely reported. I assume it’s solid.

Welp, I guess since the words “protect the natural environment” aren’t in the Constitution, the government will eventually have no right to restrict the use of private property.

She is milking this for all the press that she can.

She has never voted “no” to a SC confirmation on the senate floor. Highly unlikely she will do otherwise.

This, from the ABA, is bizarre.

“Because Kavanaugh acted like a partisan dick at the hearing, we are reconsidering our evaluation of him, and we will provide a revised evaluation of him some time after you have confirmed him, and until then, our prior positive evaluation stands. Also, we are not cranks.”

Murkowski NO on Cloture.

(Flake and Collins both AYEs, so doesn’t matter.)

Comes down to Manchin.

Probably Manchin waits for Flake.

Flake is an Aye.

Manchin can vote either way if he likes. Without a second GOP as a NO on cloture, it proceeds.

Manchin AYE; didn’t matter with Collins’s AYE.
