Out of curiosity, imagine that Biden wins and the Dems get the 51 votes they need. Assuming that the new SC justice hasnât already been sworn in by that time, does the threat of a packed court stop the Senate Republicans from selecting someone? Itâs not like they are losing a Conservative justice, theyâd just maintain the status quo.
No. Theyâll make the Democrats break the filibuster and pack the court. Accuse them of breaking norms and all that.

If they havenât filled it already, and they think that the court packing threat is a credible one maybe. Honestly, I think they would push someone through and dare the Democrats to pack the court in response.
Helpful thread for those wondering where their money should go.
Iâd expect the GOP to act fast;
Exactly one hour later and just a shade more than $6m in donations since this post.
Alright, donated to each of the recommended campaigns.
Awesome. I was just thinking, I recently donated to Shawna Anderson, I believe, who is running for a House district in Iowa. I was stunned to receive an actual thank you letter from her, handwritten. And it wasnât a large donation.
Nice, but that doesnât really sound like a very efficient use of a candidateâs time.
Agreed, but itâs an illustration of how much even small donations mean to these more local races.

I found 538 site to be the best way to figure out who to strategically donate to.
I ended with Steve Bullock and Mark Kelly, MJ is possible donation in the future.
Wonât be a problem, McConnell wouldnât be a hypocrite. Oh, waitâŚ

Iâm watching all these idiots on social media trying to shame Republicans by posting the GOP statements in 2016 about delaying the SCOTUS vote until after the election. Dumbasses. You canât shame them with this. This is exactly their strategy.
Disagree, these are Very Serious Men larded with integrity.
