1. Congress may "permanently "change the size of the court by law - (until law is amended) 2. The Senate has the ability to temporarily change the size of the Court, by blocking new members. 3. McConnell already did that, make him the 'first mover' on altering the Court's size.

As a historical fact, it's worth noting: Sen. McConnell changed the number of working justices on The Supreme Court from 9 to 8, for well over a year.

Justice Scalia died in Feb. 2016, but the GOP Senate did not allow for any vote on the first nominee to replace him, ever - and provided for a vote on the second nominee to replace him in April 2017.

I think that is really stretching the criteria for impeachment. It is 100% the President’s right to nominate a replacement. Trump is a garbage person, but he’s not doing anything wrong here.

Thankfully there are about 124 impeachable offenses that Trump hasn’t been charged for.
That’s since the last impeachment and doesn’t include stuff he did before that they didn’t impeach him for.

Ok, I’ve booted up my crystal ball and found out how all the SCOTUS drama ends. Spoilers ahead:

Biden wins. Democrats take Senate in 2020. Or 2022, the crystal ball is hazy on this part.
They grumble about the SCOTUS but don’t do anything about it, until…
A SCOTUS decision outrages Democrats. The signal is weak here, so I can’t tell if this is about abortion, the ACA, or some other issue.
Democrats threaten to expand the SCOTUS
Republicans reveal their master plan…

Ok: Clarence Thomas announces that he will retire. Did the GOP put him up to it? Nobody knows, but the media hails this is as a selfless act of statesmanship and reconciliation from the post-Trump conservatives, who deserve again to be take seriously. Pundits hammer home the point that now the court will now be restored to a 5-4 split. And since that’s exactly where it would have been under Justice Garland, this is the necessary and proper resolution and Democrats are unreasonable to expect any more.
Democrats give up trying to expect any more. Plans to expand the SCOTUS are abandoned. Republicans are happy because they keep their 5-4 majority for a little longer. Thomas was going to retire anyway, but he doesn’t tell anyone.

Even if none of that happens, I think it’s unlikely they will expand the SCOTUS. Biden has signaled as much.

“I would not get into court packing. We add three justices—next time around we lose control, they add three justices. We begin to lose any credibility the court has at all.”

The above scenario is just a way to de-escalate so that everyone can claim victory. Which means at minimum it’s a feasible outcome.
