Asked by Reuters on Wednesday if he knew his son was meeting with lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in June last year, the president said: “No, that I didn’t know until a couple of days ago when I heard about this.”
He later told reporters on Air Force One that “in fact maybe it was mentioned at some point,” referring to the meeting, adding he was not told it was about Clinton.
This is one of those cases where the lawyer and and the layman use the same word - “treason” - but they’re each using meanings that are so different that misunderstanding is bound to result.
“Murder” is another one of those words.
Layman: So, do you think this guy will go to jail for murder?
Lawyer: I’d have to say no, a murder charge wouldn’t stick.
Layman: What!!??? You’re saying he didn’t kill the guy? That he shouldn’t go to jail!?!?!
