Agreed. All her book is going to do is allow Trump to make the conversation about her being a sore loser again. Anyone who needs convincing is already convinced
I’d amend that to say that “Anyone who needs convincing still is an inconvinceable shitheel.”

I’m curious who you two think needs convincing.
The problem is that it’s “still”, not “again”. The GOP media machine hasn’t stopped talking about her, and won’t, no matter what she does, so I don’t think it matters much.
She’s just putting it out there for a cash grab. Russia is still the topic of the day, so she’s striking while the iron is hot.
Otherwise, seriously, Hillary, who cares about another book from you? Retire from politics and go on your merry way.

I’m watching this right now. This guy is saying that FusionGPS, the ones behind the Steele Dossier, are financed by the Russians, and also the Don Jr meeting was about repealing the Magnitsky Act. So Russia is playing both sides trying to sow chaos.
I don’t know what to think anymore!
I don’t know about the rest of it, but this lines up with the other stuff the administration has admitted to. Every time anyone in Washington talks about “adoptions” with regards to Russia, they’re talking about the Magnitsky Act which resulted in Russia cutting off the US from adopting Russian orphans.
Not new info. They are a private consulting company and have done work for Russian interests (can’t recall the details off the top of my head but that’s not in dispute).
Pretty much yes.
But why blame your own campaign and your toxicity when you can put it on some evil mastermind speaking Russian. #SMERSH
Nah, i have huge sympathy for Hillary. It reminds me of a hypothetical poster being run out of a forum [no, I really don’t have anyone in mind, fwiw] because he/she has been labeled “toxic” by an loud and aggressive faction, whose great crimes are essentially being misunderstood, misinterpreted, suffering from ad hominem attacks, ect, and he/she lashing out angrily at their gaolers in response. And the rest of the forum rolling their eyes and declaring “go away, toxic poster!” because they don’t want to take sides or get involved.
Hillary didn’t deserve the decades of libel and character assassination she’s endured, and there’s a part of me very frustrated with people that want her to just “go away” because they are tired of dealing with it, even if they recognize it’s not her fault. OTOH… she has to recognize reality as well. Just like the hypothetical forum poster is better off leaving then single-handed trying to hold back the tides, to a certain extent she has to recognize that through no fault of her own, she’s damaged goods politically. Sometimes it’s better to strike a match on the face of your detractors like William Holden in Stalag 17 and ride off into the sunset with a wry smile than stand and fight for your reputation when no one except you really cares.
I agree that she’s been a victim of the far right in many ways. My concern is that her book may hinder rather than help the Democrats in the 2018 elections. The only chance we have to curb some of Trump’s craziness and the far right’s agenda is to re-take the House or the Senate.
You know maybe… maybe not. Democrats have been very concerned with propriety above all (see Obama not trying to make the Russia connections a bid deal) and maybe that’s not the right attitude to take, i’m not sure. I mean it hasn’t paid off in any way so far, unless you have a counter-factual belief that doing so would have made things worse. Maybe we need Democrats screaming from the rooftops about this.
OTOH it’s a book tour, and that detracts somewhat from the thunder and looks more like a political operative’s traditional retirement nest egg tour. And maybe, in some way, that sums up Hillary’s strengths and weaknesses, that she was (and is, in the end) perhaps too conventional a politician to understand how to weather these unseasonable political winds.
Perhaps, but there may be a better spokesperson than Hillary to do the screaming.

Yeah seriously. She won the popular vote. People care what she has to say. There is no need for her to find a hole to quietly die in because the Trump is a baby and part of the electorate is easily mislead.
This sums it up. Really she had the party behind her this election and yet failed to Donald Trump. I cannot and will not support her running again, period. Perhaps others might. But she isn’t serving any office or official duty currently, so that puts her in the boat of former presidential candidates who like to talk a lot. At some point, why do we even care to listen to what they have to say?
However, her coveted knowledge at this time is anything related to the Russian hacking scandal. And my guess is that what she might know, at this point, wouldn’t be a huge amount we don’t know about already.
I just stumbled onto this article elsewhere today and think it’s mandatory reading for people who don’t understand the Magnitsky Act and what it’s all about. I honestly didn’t know all that it entailed before reading this article.[quote=“wisefool, post:4346, topic:127454, full:true”]
July 25, 2017 testimony to Congress. Browder is a guy who rebelled against his father, the head of the American Communist party by becoming a big hedge fun guy. He’s the guy who worked with Magnitsky, the lawyer who was imprisoned and killed for bitching about $230 mil unpaid Russian taxes (2009).
It has an interesting bit on how Putin began happily fighting the oligarchs, but then claims Putin turned around and demanded 50% of the stolen loot. At that point Browder was an enemy of Putin.

Because she’s more qualified than most to have a considered opinion.
She won’t run in 2020, IMO. She’s done politically and the Democrats are eager for new blood. As a private citizen, not bound even by the ex-president decorum that constrains Obama, she can say whatever the hell she wants.
To anyone who doesn’t want to offend Trump voters by reminding them that Hillary still exists, I say, fuck 'em in the ear, fuck 'em in the other ear (Trump voters, that is). Appeasement has worked so well for the Dems up till now.
And it’s certainly worth pointing out that Hillary is really freaking smart and quite experienced at this point, and it’s pretty clear that a subset of voters are not comfortable with a smart woman being in power. That so many people are still chanting “lock her up” with Trump’s clear emoluments and ethical violations is plenty evidence of this.
On this part:
But other than that … meh? Quite honestly, I could see Hillary championing some younger Democratic candidates or being opening speaker at a convention, but what we have going on right now, that inside knowledge above is really all I’d want to know.
I’m Clintoned-out at this point.
