There’s no place like home, there’s no place like …

I’m fairly convinced that Trump (through Jeff Kelly) is going to move Sessions to running Homeland Security. It’s a fairly elegant solution, since it’s not “firing” him, per se.

Wouldn’t that require senate approval? He was confirmed by the senate for Justice, not HS.

Yeah, Sessions would have to go through another round of confirmation hearings for that.

Meanwhile, leakers leak about a warning about leaking again. (Not satire.)

President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner on Monday told congressional interns that Trump’s campaign was too disorganized to collude with Russia to influence the 2016 election, according to a report by Foreign Policy.

“They thought we colluded, but we couldn’t even collude with our local offices,” Kushner told interns in off-the-record remarks, according to Foreign Policy, which cited an unnamed source’s written notes on Kushner’s comments.

Kushner, who updated his security clearance form to reflect more than 100 previously unreported contacts with foreign officials and travel abroad, warned interns to keep track of their own contacts, per the report.

“There are 127 pages on the SF-86, but there are only two you guys have to worry about,” he said, referring to the form’s official designation. “Make sure you guys keep track of where you travel.”

Before Kushner spoke, according to Foreign Policy, the intern director warned those present not to leak his off-the-record remarks.

Per the report, Kushner said, “I’m a lot more comfortable talking to you guys today ’cause there isn’t any press.”

Washington Post: The President himself dictated the misleading statement given on Don Jr’s meeting with the Russians.

That’s gonna be real bad. Real, real bad.

Like, Robert Mueller has his smoking gun now if he wants it, bad.

This is great. FTA:

“This was . . . unnecessary,” said one of the president’s advisers, who like most other people interviewed for this story spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive internal deliberations. “Now someone can claim he’s the one who attempted to mislead. Somebody can argue the president is saying he doesn’t want you to say the whole truth.”

More:

The extent of the president’s personal intervention in his son’s response, the details of which have not previously been reported, adds to a series of actions that Trump has taken that some advisers fear could place him and some members of his inner circle in legal jeopardy.

Someone needs to take the black-guy-lime meme and shop in Mueller’s face.

Why can’t I

Hold all these smoking guns?

Good job plugging the leaks, Trump White House!

Merely lying to the press ain’t gonna put Trump in prison.* But I’m sure this story makes Mueller eager to get Trump on the stand. Donnie shows all the symptoms of a pathological liar, going for the lie even when it’s easily detectable and likely to get the liar in even more trouble.

.* A lie like this might count as part of an obstruction of justice case if Trump actually thought Mueller et. al. might believe it, that is if he actually thought it would affect the investigation. But if I were Trump’s lawyer I’d argue the lie here was so obvious it couldn’t possibly mislead investigators.

Ok how does he have 25,8K followers with only 21 tweets and 2 likes.

Is this some CIA bot program/propoganda. If so it needs to be a little less obvious guys.

Haha. He’s a pretty well-known guy and his first tweet was retweeted by a lot of reporters and others with lots of followers. It’s how that social media thing works.

Oh man!

He’s troubled!

Right here in River City?

With a capital T which stands for Trump and rhymes with fool.

Oh hey, I called it! Graham is having to pick up on the “troubled” slack with McCain out.

McCain and Graham have shared that shtick for a while, but yeah … Graham is going to have to somehow carry the weight of all that on his shoulders alone now. Thankfully, he will never actually have to do anything about it.

Someone said this a while back, and I think it still fits:
“I don’t understand why none of the Republicans want to go down in history as one of the greatest Patriots ever.”

There’s an opportunity here, even when reduced to the most cynical political calculus, for a member of the GOP to stand up against what is pretty obviously a bad thing.

McCain kind of did this, much to everyone’s surprise… but the opportunity remains.
