Ugh, I actually looked this up in good faith, and now feel dirty.

It’s fundamentally dishonest to conceal that McCabe’s wife was running for public office at the time. Campaign donations to a political campaign are not the same things as cash gifts to an individual. I realize that Donald Trump does not believe this to be the case, but Donald Trump fundamentally doesn’t understand how democracy works.

For my entire adult life Republicans have been trying to convince me that campaign contributions are not a threat to the republic but a harmless (in fact, beneficial!) form of speech. Conservative Supreme Court Justices support the right of billionaires to shower politicians with unlimited shady money. But the moment Democrats donate money to other Democrats I’m supposed to see corruption?

Also: This shit happened back in 2016, and was public information at the time. (It’s sort of impossible to secretly run for public office!) It’s almost 2018. At some point the Trump Administration has to stop talking about the 2016 election. This is not a relevant story.
