Hi Folks!

Just thought I’d gauge interest for a forum-play of Sentinels of the Multiverse. Here’s how it would work:

I would control the villain and environment decks. I would also play one hero. I’d be looking for either 2 or 3 other folks to play heroes. It would be best if you had a copy of the hero deck you were playing.

If we had 3 people in total, I’d go for a medium-ish villain. 4 players gets a hard one. I’ll pick my hero last, to make it more likely that everyone can get their first choice.

If you want a spot, please make sure you can play, say, a turn per day.

Does this interest anyone? I thought it would be a cool way to show the game to people who have never seen it in action before, and fun in it’s own right.

Any takers?

Possibly. I’d be willing to bring The Scholar to the table, since he’s a promo deck that fewer people are likely to have (and a hell of a tank), or maybe Omnitron-X.

Interesting. I wonder how many days this would go on. How about an excellerated weekend edition? In any case I am curious about this enough to give it a go. I have all of the sets and the promos, so as long as the cats play nice I should be able to mimic the board old school chess style.

I’m in, though I only have the base first edition box.

Well, that would make four of us (if you all indeed want to go through with it), which would be perfect. I honestly don’t know how long it would last, but in a pinch I do have most of the characters, so I would be able to take over for someone who left. I only want to do it if people are really interested, though!

Unfortunately, I don’t know if I could do an accelerated game, as my wife has taken my ipad with her out of town, and that is my only source of remote internet access.

Since there are four of us, I was thinking we could try Grand Warlord Voss. I’ve actually never fought him before, but he seems like a badass, and his special victory condition should keep us on our toes!

Does everyone have a sidekick app? It helps a lot with keeping track of everything. It’s not necessary, obviously, although I do recommend it.

For any watchers interested in this, here’s a bio on the Grand Warlord: http://sentinelsofthemultiverse.com/multiverse/villains/grand-warlord-voss

Voss isn’t actually all that hard. He mostly just has a lot of minions and can recycle them. If we wanted a steep challenge, the roughest villains I’ve fought would be: The Chairman, Iron Legacy, and probably The Dreamer. I haven’t fought the Matriarch but she looks really really painful. The Chairman can’t be hurt at all until we’ve put a certain number of “Underbosses” into his villain trash, but you don’t want that to happen until the Operative is out of commission as she powers up when that happens. But the thing is, the Underbosses fish out really unpleasant criminal cards every turn in addition to being a pain in their own right, so both they and their underlings have to be managed while trying to beat down the Operative and she’s hitting people every time a villain card is destroyed. It’s rough as heck. Iron Legacy hits every hero every round for huge amounts of damage plus buffs himself in various configurations and starts healing when he flips so really needs to be taken from just above his flip threshold to zero in one round. The Dreamer herself has barely any HP and has to be kept alive (so no using “all villain target” attacks) while she spawns huge numbers of vicious Nightmare minions that have to be fully cleared to win the fight. And the Matriarch has huge numbers of crows that all do something nasty and also play the next card of the villain deck -and- hurt heroes when they die. She can probably play half her deck in a single turn.

So timing of turns will be interesting as there are no push notifications. Mark, as the environment and villain controller will you be able to update the board visually on the forum at the start of each turn to make sure we stay in sync? I will only be able to take turns on evenings on weekday if that helps the turn order.

I think I would like to play fanatic as I have not played her yet.

Okay, so how about The Dreamer, then? I think she sounds like great fun. I propose Time Cataclysm as the environment- I think it fits with the image of a roiling dreamscape- but I’m open to other suggestions, too.

I can update at the start of each turn, sure. I’m not quite sure what you mean by visually, though.

And so we have our first Hero chosen- Fanatic! Who would you other two guys like to play as?

edit- a link to The Dreamer for those who are interested!

If Dreamshadow only has the first box it could be harder on him to play along if we grab stuff out of the newer sets.

Well, then why not Citizen Dawn? She’s level 4 difficulty, and is from the basic set.

I could possibly be interested if you need another player…I have all the expansions, just none of the promo cards

Skip me, then. I’m going to have the Expanded edition and expansions later ( as soon as it is back in print. :) ) I’ll catch the next round.

No need to skip anyone. There are plenty of choices in the base set. I picked Fanatic, point me in the right direction for the rest of it when we are set. =)

Okay, so if you want to be in, please give your preferred character. If necessary, I can just be “gamesmaster”.

As long as someone with the expansions is running the game itself I don’t see any reason that players would need anything other than the hero deck of their choice. I’m thinking Argent Adept since I’ve only played him the once and he didn’t quite gel for me at the time. I’d like to see if I can get him to shine. If we need a tank, though, I’ll cheerfully bring out The Scholar.

If I do actually join up…I will play as Expatriette.

Okay, if Dreamshadow is not playing I will pick the last hero. Dreamshadow? You still here?

Go ahead, Mark. The newer cards use the H mechanic, and that will end up just confusing me. :)

UGH, I did that wrong. Fixing now…

For thematic reasons, I will be The Visionary!

Okay, technically we should choose turn order first, but I’ve got an itchy trigger finger, so let’s get going!

THE DREAMER, 6 HP

The Dreamer is at 6 hit points. Remember, we need to keep her alive at all costs! In order to win, we need to have 8 of her dream projections defeated and underneath her card.

Before setup-

I draw 4 Projections and put them into play-

Illusory Demon #1, 5 HP

Whipacorn #1, 7 HP

Whipacorn #2, 7 HP

Tooth Fairy, 3 HP

Start of the Villain Turn: Nothin’! This may be the last time that happens, so let’s enjoy it!

Villain Card Draw: Dark Hero 5 HP. He reduces damage dealt to Projection Cards by 1, and increases damage dealt by Villain Targets by 1.

Dark Hero is essentially a buff machine, and should probably be taken down ASAP.

End of Villain Turn:

First, let’s deal with the projections already in play.

Whipacorn hits the strongest hero for 3 damage. That is Fanatic. She cannot deal damage next turn.

Whipacorn number two does likewise. That hits Expatriette. Same deal.

Illusory Demon hits the toughest hero for 5 infernal damage. I think that is still Fanatic.

Tooth Fairy makes us discard a card, each!

Anyone who wants to go first, step on up!
