Oh man, I loved that guy. RIP.
I can’t believe how sad his passing has made me.
“Continue the stomach cancer medication…” Just so, so good.
I just watched him in Killing of a Chinese Bookie. Believe it or not, he was a great bad guy. Weirdly ominous.
RIP.

He was a terrific Cassavetes staple. I especially enjoyed him as the old ice cream man in Steve Buscemi’s directorial debut Trees Lounge, who Cassel had previously worked with on In the Soup (the most Sundancey film ever).
Farewell, Seymour! Sheer perfection in Rushmore.
I have been really negligent in exploring the films of John Cassavetes and Cassel’s early work in general. (This sounds like a job for the new Criterion channel!)
RIP. He was one of those actors whose names I could never remember but whose performances I always greatly enjoyed.
