Yeah because a zip tie is really hard to get rid of. Whoa. Really?

Difficulty is not the point, the message is.

Also people who are so inconsiderate I would rank as less likely than average to have a box cutter or knife handy.

Yeah, without something sharp handy, getting rid of a zip tie is pretty damn hard.

Exactly. Because if you really want to drive the point home, you could use two zip ties to attach to front/rear doors and cinch those motherfuckers really tight so they can’t find a gap to insert something to cut it with.

The picture is basically saying “stop being an asshole” not trying to ruin the paint job on your door handles.

Using a key or a pencil and twisting it around until it snaps would do it.

I do approve of the message people send with this though! If you can’t (or won’t) park properly, don’t drive…

Edit: maybe it’s not twisting. Not sure about the proper English word here… Maybe winding?

I don’t think I could manage that with most keys. I can see how the pencil might work, but my brain sees the pencil snapping before the tie.

Then again, I carry a knife everywhere, so for me it wouldn’t matter.
I also don’t park like an asshole, so again… wouldn’t matter.

I think we had someone on this forum who admitted to parking that way on purpose, as he felt that when he parked normally other people would park too close / scrape along his car with trolleys and/or bump their doors against his. Thus he felt safer parking across two lots…

Better to be prepared! Just in case this happens to me, I’ve gone ahead and secured sharp knives to all my car door handles with zip ties.

I prefer this:

Ah yes… the famous South African Anti Car Jacking Device!

Haha.

The perfect park is to park way the fuck away, and perfectly between the lines. Ideally with a curb on one side, and your wheels 1" from the curb.

You also want to back it in so if they try to steal it the attempt will be more visible. I speak from experience.

My mom keeps bumping into and driving over random stuff lately, including parking curbs. She’s only 5’ 2’’, though.

Backing in is almost always the better way to park. You can more precisely put it on the lines, and driving off is faster, safer and easier too. I wish more people would take the time to back it in, much peace would be had by all. But somehow people think nosing it in is easier.

The wife is like that. We joke that her Native American name should be Parks On Curb.

Many parking lots here have signs that say, Do Not Back In. Florida doesn’t require front license plates. They want the plate showing on the car, I would guess for legal reasons.
Edit for brain fart.

Well, “nosing it in” is certainly easier on me, who is waiting for you to get the fuck out of my way so I can drive through.
