Shutter Island

I was poking at IMDB because I wanted to know where I’d seen the barber in Gran Torino before (answer: he was the guy Zodiac picked as the most likely candidate to be the Zodiac killer.), and noticed that he was also credited as being in a 2009 release of a Shutter Island movie, directed by Martin Scorsese. Currently in post-production.

Holy shit, said I.

It’s probably not Lehane’s best book, but it certainly pushed all the right buttons for me (storm, insane asylum, secluded island, questions of identity and hidden secrets). And with Scorsese at the helm? I think I have my most anticipated movie of '09.

Scorcese’s name used to be an asset. These days, for me personally, it’s a liability.

That guy’s been around forever. I think I first noticed him as the husband in Fargo who, IIRC, wins some sort of stamp-making contest for painting a duck (?). He had a short-lived TV series with Chris Penn and Randy Quaid that I never saw, but sounded awesome just for those three guys being in it.

That guy will always be Drew Carey’s transvestite brother to me.
