Out of no where, and designed by the man himself:
Looks nifty, has an “Over the Reich” vibe to it. For those of you who can remember that game ;)

In-app purchases, cosmetic DLC, iOS.
I hope it’s good because the hardcore civfanatics will lose their minds on this one.
I saw this on Pocket Tactics. I’d be interested if not for the exuberant pilots staring at me the entire time. I can’t look away, they’re so out of place.
Sounds to me more the initial game is a demo with one campaign and a few planes, then you buy campaigns and planes if you like it.
That’s looking pretty tasty. Turn-based dogfighting with a persistent crew of pilots (XCOM style).
There’s another Firaxis mobile game coming out, the free-to-play boardgamey Haunted Hollow.
Civ for consoles, Facebook games, now IOS. Is there any bandwagon Firaxis won’t jump on?
Of course, if an Android version came out, I would be on it like stink on a monkey.
If you live in Canada, you can get it now.
Wait WHAT? Ack, now I NEED an iOS device. I LOVED Over the Reich and Achtung Spitfire.
That’s just wrong!
Is this for ipad, iphone, or both?
Not having an ipad this determines whether or not I am excited.
both: iPhone 4+, iPad 2+
Well they were in WWI before we were. It’s only fair.

Is this like Flight Commander 2?
We have some Canadians in here, don’t we?
I’m getting a strong Flight Commander 2 vibe from this as well…
Thank you. glares at iphone 3gs
I think I’ll be…borrowing my girlfriend’s iPhone 5 for a spell…
I played a little bit of Haunted Hollow when it was accidentally released on the US app store last week, and it seems kind of interesting. Territory control type game with a cartoonish horror type motif. My biggest problem, though, was the IAP. I’m wondering if the multiplayer will be worthwhile if you stay away from the IAP.
We wish :( FC2 was such a good little tactical air combat game. I was never able to get into Achtung! Spitfire and Over the Reich, oddly enough – the combat was just too disjointed, something that I’ve seen since the days of cardboard games like Flight Leader and (gulp) Air War. You just lose all the sense of fluidity in air combat wargames that are too tactical. Probably why I like DVG’s solitaire air combat games so much.
That being said Mr. Meier’s little creation here needs to get on Android post-haste, to join Phantom Leader and Strike Fighters :)
That is odd, since, IIRC, Achtung Spitfire and Over the Reich were done by the same folks who did Flight Commander 2.
I had no idea Strike Fighters was on Android, by the way. Thanks!
