Does anyone know if you can get Sid Meier’s Gettysburg to work on Windows Vista? I could barely get the thing to work on my last install of XP, even with the compatibility patch, so I’m not holding out any significant hope that it’ll even work on Vista, but if anyone has any ideas?
DosBox?
That works with Windows 95 games? Never used dosbox before.
Set in compatability mode for Windows 95?
Ah I got it to work really easy for some reason. I never really got it to work in XP but installing it and the compatibility patch made it run fine on the first attempt. Forced the Yankee dogs back from McPhersons Hill already.
God, the Sid Meier’s Civil War games are so awesome. Going to fire them back up as soon as I get back on my PC.
Where’s that compatibility patch? I’m itching to fire this up now.
Weird; just the other day I installed Gettysburg on my Vista box for a lark and now I see this thread!!
Even more weirdly, Gettyburg ran just fine with no compatibility settings required. I didn’t play for long though.
They should really release some more of these games, they were very well done.
Don’t forget Waterloo: Waterloo: Napoleon's Last Battle (2001) - MobyGames
Hmm. Any luck running it under windows 7? I’ve installed it, but i can’t get it to run or any of the patches to install under any compatibility mode.
Any ideas on how to get Antietam to run under XP (SP2) everything but the sound appears to work? Gettysburg on the other hand runs great with the XP compatibility patch but Antietam seems to be lacking a similar fix.
Is there a patch for windows 7?
If autorun of the CD gives a
“The procedure entry point UnMapLS could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.” error, then run setup from the CD.
If the game crashes with an error message on the Preferences Screen, make sure you have the new version of LABELS.TXT that comes with Patch 3 in the Gettysburg folder.
If no troops appear in the 3 day scenario - this only works with the 3rd patch not the XP patch.
If you get a ‘this is not a valid Win2 application’ error when running the self extracting .zip file of Patch 3 from Firaxis - Download the 3rd patch as a plain .zip file from: smx.iblogger.org/SMG.htm instead.
