Funniest post in a long while.
Are you sure? Hope you’re right, but I’m going to reserve judgement until I’ve seen them both.

Removing the British from Hellblazer is tantamount to changing Superman’s origin from an alien being to a guy who just works out a lot. Whether Sin City actually turns out to be any good or not, I can’t possibly imagine it won’t be a better adaptation than Constantine.
Are you saying the British are supermen?

I prefer the comic, but Hellblazer has more room for Hollywood-style
misinterpretation of the material…the urge to make flashy effects is
overpowering over there. I’ll go see Sin City whenever the cinemas
here get it, and the Constantine movie only if a large number of fellow
comic fans like it.
They are now.[/quote]
Spoilers, but if I’m remembering the review I read correctly, I believe it revealed that in the end, the Brits drive Superman away to the point where he runs off to be Superman in the US instead. So no, they aren’t Supermen.
Seems like they did a good job with the rain and the snow.
OK yeah, that does look really good.

Did your brain trip on the word “tantamount”?
The way I’ve done this is to download the clip to my computer then launch the standalone Quicktime player, which you can set to fullscreen. I haven’t been able to find a way to get the plug-in to do full.
Also: why is there a ferengi (sp?) with yellow blood in this movie?

Thanks…I tried finding the clip in my temporary IE folder and couldn’t, I’ll look again. The Ferengi guy is from “That Yellow Bastard” and describing him further would be spoilerish.
Been watching the trailer again today.
Sometimes I wish Sin City would never come out, and leave us with that perfect fucking trailer.
I want to see this more than anything slated for release in 2005, including Episode 3.
Given my opinion of the first trailer when I started this thread, and given the violence, can someone do me a favor and articulate why the second trailer isn’t any of the things I said the first trailer was? I guess I’m just getting older, and these days I treat media violence as an important investment decision, for my psyche or whatever.
A good amount of the first “trailer” was just test footage shot as proof of concept. The really impressive stuff was saved for the official teaser.
Well, I have no idea what that was, but it looks fantastic.
The newer trailer execution is fantastic. Design and effects look to be very good. Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis and Nick Stahl were strong choices and looked great. But the other actors I saw, well, they still seemed flat, overacted, and smug. You can hide a poor actor in a nice package but it still shows. Hopefully they manage to pull it off, I’m actually rooting for it now despite my feeling that they should have cast a wider net for some roles.
I got the compilation of short stories today, and I realized that I think that Sin City the comic ain’t that great. And if there’s no topless chicks it’s going to be totally disappointing.
Have you read some of the books that will be featured in the film (Sin City, the Big Fat Kill, That Yellow Bastard, etc)?
They’re way better than the shorts.
It’s been a while.
But they all seem to follow the same formula. I really do get that Sin City is a dangerous place with hot women that are totally, you know, dangerous and stuff.
Final trailer up at… uh…
