I looooove me some Advent. That video has me hyped for the Steam release.
I’m wondering… is it really ready for release?
Maybe someone that has been playing the Epic version can chime in. :)
I’ve only dabbled (short bits of playing, maybe half hour gaming sessions) because I’m waiting for this release, but what I worked with was fun. I can’t speak to overall balance and depth of the new mechanics because of that approach, but it runs silky smooth, looks gorgeous, and I was explodinating enemies with glee.
I’ve got 15-20 hours in and it has been rock solid in both the long term version and the TEST (more frequently updated) version. No crashes at all. While I know they are adding a bunch of things next week, there’s nothing placeholder at all about the game in either version. There are probably some spreadsheet style bugs/balance issues/AI holes (I’m mostly on medium AI’s and I’m just working on all the mechanics) but nothing that screams gamebreaker! (like placeholder assets, crashes, corrupted saves, etc.).
I’ve only been playing on random 4-5 AI maps, haven’t gone for a really large one yet.
And of course, haven’t played the Advent or any of the new content coming next week ;)
Just in time for me to start my work day!
Cough cough. Hi, boss, I’m feeling sick. Summer colds are the worst. Cough cough.
Man, they change a bunch of stuff from the beta. Or maybe moved it around. Gotta figure this out.
Whoever thought switching commerce and logistics in the UI was a good idea, c’mon. There’s like 15+ years of muscle memory you just wiped out.
Can’t say the thought didn’t cross my mind. :)
LOL - same
One of the very few advantages of being old is I can be retired!
Not that I play these sorts of games multiplayer much, but are the Steam and EGS versions “cross play”?
Also, does anybody know if anyone’s looking to do another Fall of Kobol style BSG mod?
Yes
I sure hope so. Mods are already going live with the built-in Mod.io connection, although they’re mostly of the map/lightweight variety (understandably, considering it just launched).
It’s been a while since I’ve played Sins 1, so while it was downloading, I checked whether there’s any sort of documentation on offer. And I was delighted to see on the Steam page that there’s a manual for Sins of a Solar Empire 2!
What’s a manual?
The in-game tutorials are pretty comprehensive, and I actually learned some stuff I hadn’t picked up during EA, like rotating orbital structures.
Manuel?
